| Aerosol Gray for lexan, who still makes it?
I thought I had finally settled on a paint scheme, but now I'm striking out on color availability. Does anyone still make a plain gray polycarbonate spray paint? I had my heart set on Tamiya 89920 "pastel gray" but apparently it's long discontinued. Tamiya PS32 "Corsa Gray" is far too blue for me to call it gray, more like powder blue. I've looked through the Tamiya, Duratrax, Pactra, and Spaz Stix color charts and came up empty. I google image searched every variation of their silver paints and they're all metallic, I really was looking for a solid gray like what you'd see on a rtr Wraith Spawn or the new Element Enduro. I'm starting to consider the method of spraying Tamiya matte clear on the inside first and then using an acrylic or enamel type paint since those seem to have lots of options for gray... but I really didn't want a matte finish (or, would it only be matte if sprayed on the outside with color on the inside?), and I don't know how well this method holds up? Another option might be to use the Corsa Gray, but back it with something that would tone down the blue tint... but what color would I use for that? I'm starting to really see the benefits to airbrush now, but I wasn't planning to make that leap yet. What can you guys suggest? |

I was goina mention the clear base then acrylic or enamal color. Ive used the matte finish first, but i also bainted on the outside of the body for the whole weathered effect. Does tamiya make a 'clear' clear coat or is it just the matte clear? I was thinkin they had a 'clear' clear, if that makes sense lol Sent from my SM-J327VPP using Tapatalk |

Not many Lexan aerosol paints left. It was just Tamiya and Duratrax around here, but I'm not sure Duratrax has any colors that would work for you.

I’ve been on the hunt for a gray for a long time. Two thoughts, one similar to yours. Hit the inside with tamiya matte first and then with an enamel gray behind it. This would still be shiny on the outside as the lexan gives the body the shine, not the paint. Or option two, find an interior automotive paint in a gray that I liked. Interior auto paints are made to stick to plastic and flex so this could hold up okay. |

TS4 or TS 32 Tamiya grey. To use on lexan spray a base coat of PS55 . Or Adherto from HOK. Once Base has bonded, any lacquer works fine. Hang up and Drive |
