| Is there a Paint that mimics bedliner ?
I’m looking for something that gives the texture appearance of line x or rhino liner etc . Anyone ever use anything like this on top of a lexan shell and if so any tips on application ?

| Re: Is there a Paint that mimics bedliner ? Yep. I've used the same stuff as bedliner on a handful of lexan bodies and even started using it as my final backer coat (inside the body) to toughen up the body a bit... don't know if it really helps structurally, but it has at least kept tire rub from taking off the paint.

I’ve also used the Rustoleum bed liner on parts of my rigs. Make sure you prep what you’re going to spray really well. With lexan, scuff the area up with some scotch brite pad or some steel wool. Then wipe down with isopropyl alcohol. Ready to spray.

I've used Rustoleum "stone finish" in the past, it gives a believable texture that passes for bed liner. Last edited by BigSki; 09-22-2019 at 08:56 PM. |

I too have used the Rustoleum bed liner spray on all of my bodies with great success. Some of them are at least ten years old, and it has never chipped or flaked off. Usually I've scuffed the area I'm applying it to really well, but on my most recent body I just cut the overspray film around the bed area, and gave it a quick light coat of Tamiya black, and then applied the rustoleum bed liner. So far it is holding up just fine. I'll add that distance is your friend when spraying the Rustoleum, it comes out fast and thick as it is meant to cover large areas of a pickup bed. So if you're not careful it can build up way to thick and run on the small area you'll be painting on a lexan shell. |

I use duplicolor truck bedliner paint, and I've found it to work extremely well. It holds up very well, and looks perfect. I've used it in the bed of my basher bodies with no base coat and it doesn't chip off. On my Gen8, I laid down a couple coats of black Duratrax body paint for adhesion, then sprayed the Duplicolor over that. That truck has taken some tumbles and the paint still looks 100% perfect. I used the rattle can bedliner spray I got from O'Reilly's. I think it was the duplicolor. I sprayed it on the outside (obviously) and it worked well. I suggest you run a hobby knife around the edges before you unmask though... |

@Jim85IROC - Love the clean look of that Scout in black and white. Textured black roof was the perfect accent. Nice job!

I used flex seal on the bed of my vs410 pro and love the way it looks. It took a few days to harden up though.
