I love the old trucks, but I think making them into crawlers isn’t their best look, to me it looks a bit too Tonka truck-ish. I would drool over a 1956 Apache body, but I would never make it a crawler. Just my opinion. But I’m glad companies are noticing how much people love the old trucks!

They should show some love for the ford ranchero (late 70s model) n the el camino lol. I know, they were 2wd, but it would b kinda cool to see those bodies

There used to be 3 different versions of the El Camino.

HPI - 68
McAllister - 75 ish
Parma - 78

Don't remember if a Ranchero was ever created.

I like this 55 Ford body but more in a 2wd hotrod version, not so much as a crawler.

Definitely feelin' ya on that score...

It's a very TALL body, and on a crawler chassis lifted high enough to not foul full fenders, just seems very tippy!

Might be interesting with the body slammed a bit on some shorter tires, but I imagine this will be a very pricey body (at least if you get all the bits and pieces) which will likely preclude me from testing out that idea.

I do really like they way they did the cage, the tilt function, and the bed with removable fenders option - would like to see a pic of that, actually!

This vintage of the Ford F100 has a lot of meaning for me, though - my dad bought the plastic kit (I think it was a Revell - or was it an AMT?) of the street rod version for my brother & me when we were kids and it was such a nice model that we both begged him to help us finish it because we were a little too young to do it justice. I remember when he painted the engine block in red we were surprised, didn't even know engines were any color other than grimy and black! It had Centerlines with skinny front tires and big meats out back - and he finished it off with a beautiful deep royal blue. Sat on the bookshelf for us to look at for many years afterwards!

Ah, memories.

Wow, I remember that model too or one similar. I actually built two. one when I was young and just did a crap job on it. Then I bought another years later to actually build it right and nice.

I think it wouldn't look to bad as a class 1. Or a stocker class old Baja truck.

Right, on smaller wheels and tires that tucked more into those lovely phat fenders!

Several years ago I bought my brother a stock-appearing red 1/18th die-cast '50s Ford F100 to put on his bookcase in his house, to keep the spirit alive.

The body is great, but it definitely doesn't look quite right as a crawler, especially with 1.9 wheels.

I can, however, see this looking pretty darn good with 1.55 wheels.

Yep...

One other thing I noticed - the green one looks much better to me, as the light tan looks terrible around the grille bar area - I'd want that area to be very dark, maybe go all the way and paint a clear body matte black, on deep-dish RC4WD spoked wheels - and 4.19" tires.

Also need the window trim to be detail-painted...

I like the tan/brown one, but yeah the grill area is bright. Maybe black out the grill or black out behind it to change it up.

Truck looks decent, but its a trail truck. Reminds me of NORRA race vehicles.
Now... lets see a factory 41-46 factory Axial Powerwagon. Bobbed. In the scheme of a Honcho or the '69 Blazer.
...Could be good.
