Default Upcoming body release - Crawler application?

From the upcoming RedCat Kaiju 1/8th monster truck - looks like a pretty close approximation of the good ol' Ford Courier - 309mm (12.16") wheelbase - I do believe I'll be searching for the clear version as soon as it's released:

I like it. I don’t design or print 3D bits, but all it need is a decent grill with some light buckets

Are Redcat bodies nice, polycarbonate or are they junk ABS?

The front reminds me of a Datsun truck.

Can’t wait to see this on a crawler. I think it has real potential.

I kinda like the looks of it. I’m also picturing it maybe slammed low on a Slash chassis as an asphalt missile.

It reminds me more of a Mazda Repu.

I did a little investigation to find some rough dimensions of this body.

I found some images with a few measurements and used them to scale the body. I plugged those into Fusion 360 and got them to match the scale.

This one got squished but I was only after the width here.

The body looks to be about 7 7/8" wide by 17 1/2" long with the cab being 6" tall and the wheelbase of 11 1/2 (based of the wheel wells not the monster truck wheelbase)

So not too far off of whats possible with some narrow axles and a shortened wheelbase.

Again these are just rough measurements but this should be close enough to help brainstorm. You can see the 309mm wheelbase does not match up to the image, its off by 3mm or so but thats not a terrible margin for error I think.

I was just looking at this body yesterday thinking the same thing. The front looks like my Datsun 620. I ordered a 620 body on ebay once and it sucked. Maybe this would be a good replacement on my scx10 ii. Thanks for the measurements!

Looks like it's trickling out to the shops - unfortunately, also looks like the body post holes are pre-drilled - and there are extra holes for the body clip retaining straps - and you'd have to use the external window stickers as templates for window masks (whew) - BUT I still kinda dig it, even some of the little stickers it comes with are cool :

I noticed the wheel openings are pinched together for lack of a better way to say it. Is this the case or was it an optical delusion in the pictures I've seen? I'm giving serious consideration to using this little body on a comp chassis, but the wheel openings, if oddly shaped, may make it a non-starter.

I have a Kaiju and just pulled the body off and sat it on a Redcat Gen 7. It does "fit" but would need the wheel openings widened quite a bit to be able to run it without rubbing. Length is good and width is good.

The clear body is available on Redcat's website. https://www.redcatracing.com/product...31764558774362

I looked again at the scaled image and the wheel wells look like they're around the 2 1/4", so thats gonna require some major hacking.

Maybe a drift body? lol
