gen8 paint removal issues???
 

Has anybody encountered this when removing the paint from the inside of the gen8 windshield? I used 20% rc fuel like so many on youtube have done but nobody has mentioned anything like this??? It looks like the lexan got crazed?? What happened? What can I do to fix it?

I would try some rubbing compound followed up with some plastic polish, should do the trick. You may have to do this a few times but it should clear up pretty decent.

Future reference: I use a magic eraser pad and water or alcohol to remove paint overspray. If you lightly rub it won’t hurt the lexan but grabs the paint.

Others have mentioned this happening. Tamiya polycarbonate cleaner doesnt fog up the lexan but it takes a lot of elbow grease.

I'd try to polish it out like Kincer mentioned.

I did this on my Everest 10 and the result was that the window looked foggy. That was fine for what I was looking for. I used a green pot scrubber and rubbing alcohol. Phildirt’s use of a magic eraser is a good idea and it may result in a more even surface to start with. I have heard of people overworking it damn dammit in the Lexan so that could be a risk.

I use toothpaste to polish scratches off of my watches. I just tested it on the window of the Everest 10 and it started to make an improvement with just a quick pass. I used a whitening toothpaste which feels pretty similar to an abrasive polish. You could try to even out the surface if the crazing is due to it being uneven in spots and then try the polish. I’m sure actual plastic polish is better but it appears that the toothpaste will work. I can see that it’s going to take many applications as I applied it to only one side for a comparison end it is subtle but noticeable after two applications with about 30 seconds of work each. I just put a tiny amount on the surface and then work it around in circles using my finger.
