| Custom fender flares for a hardbody?
Has anyone discovered a soft material somewhat pre-shaped that they've used as a fender flare? I'm working on a JK hardbody and I'm not entirely satisfied with the current ones.

Maybe flexible automotive door trim. Also they make "U" shaped glass finishing trim that protects sharp edges. It comes in a lot of different configurations and sizes... some 1/8" and under. Might be worth a look on Amazon. "U channel edge seal" "Rubber trim molding" would bring up some options. If you found something that would work, you'd just cut to fit and run a thin bead of CA along the inside/ backside edge and hold in place till it dries.

Using other brands bolt-ons will sometimes work if you like the shape - TRX-4 Defenders, for example. Scoring flexible tubing down the length of it and attaching as high plains drifter mentions is another trick. RC4WD sells a wide assortment, too: https://store.rc4wd.com/search.asp?keyword=fender+flare (BTW - is it just me or have their prices increased lately?) |
