Default Stand in Judge: While you wait in Line

STAND IN JUDGES

Tired of standing long lines just watching, feeling sorry for the poor guy that volunteered to work so you can have fun, wanting to help the crawling community but not will to give up the entire day?

Stand in Judging is away to help, and make your day a little easier.

Everyone ACCEPTED to be a Stand in Judge will receive a special colored wristband designating there commitment.

The wristband band will allow them to move to at least 10th* in line. While in line they will judge until their turn to drive giving the REGULAR judge time off to take care of business (Crawling or Personal)

As long as they know the rules seems logical to me, that's been the only down fall of the otherwise terrific team format.

If they are competing at Nationals, pretty sure they know the rules? Should work well!

Not everyone attending will be seasoned vets, some of the less experienced competitors don't always know the ins and outs. This has been evident with the team format and many of the same competitors will be at nats. People that sign up to judge because they don't have invites otherwise could range from beginners to people that have been around since the beginning.

Waiting on some seasoned vets to sign up as regular judges (holding my breath now)

Its not really like the team format at all. It will only be open to drivers that are already invited or qualified. (No part time judging and getting invites) They still have to have a good score on judges test.

The benefit is possible shorter lines for the Relievers and freshener full time judges.

If your an INVITED DRIVER, and you would like to help out tired judges instead of just standing around, and in exchange you can shorten your wait time.

Exercise the shorter option as little or much as you want. (Must judge on that course to use it)

Relievers will get special wrist bands.

POST YOU TEST SCORES TO BE ELIGIBLE.

I hope people think this is a cool idea. I remember waiting in line for an hour or so in Arizona thinking "Boy those Judges must be getting tired". I had considered offering up some help to give them a ten minute break or so but in the unlikely event that something happened I was afraid it might be a disaster.

I think this is a great way for people who are hanging around and want to offer a helping hand a way to do so. On a side note, it never hurts your score to watch a few drivers from Judges perspective.

Obviously we would need to make sure they knew the rules and how to judge. I also knew we needed to offer some sort of incentive to take on some additional duties.

I thought about additional raffle tickets, but that seemed weak and took away from full time judges.

Then I thought judges get to break into the FRONT of the line. What if allow the drivers selected for Special Relief Duty to cut in line after they have relief judged approximately 10 people. (Enough time for a decent break). The benefit for the drivers would be less time in line.

Nothing set in stone just trying to come up with some creative options for judging.

After some discussion I am making this OFFICIAL!

Thanks for the idea Brian

It's a great idea. This would have been awesome last year. The judge being relieved should show the stand in the ins and outs of the course and should be good to go.

I don't know if it's a good idea, but i would like to say that i'm willing to help if i can. If you say yes don't forget i'm comming from germany and my english is not the best!!! I know the problem if not enough judges available that's the reason why i'm making that offer. I'm always one of the most judging driver at international comping in europe because i know it's not funny for less judges to handle judging and driving there own courses. 2.2 pro and 2.2 S if you need one. Perhaps we could have a testcourse on thursday to see if my english is good enough.

Never be afraid to jump in and give a hand. I did it last year and turned a massive line up into something quite respectable while waiting for my turn to run.

Big thanks to Joel, Pat and Bob for stepping up and helping me out by filling in for me so I could get my 4 2.2S courses finished. I judged from 8-1 without a break and they made it possible for me to get all my courses in.
