I think you should keep your rig the way it is and build a scaler w/ the bronco. The tube work looks good so far!
The body won't affect C.O.G. too much. Just weigh your tires down. Can't get any lower than that.

Oh yeah, my tuber looks better than it crawls! I'm a better builder than driver The SW2 can definately compete w/any tuber IMO.

If you build the scaler you'll have both! Design is important, but driver skill plays a big part also. We have a few month before comps start, so you'll have time to experiment. That's the biggest part of crawlin.

I can't believe you cut up that body.............lol !

You gotta glue those tires up or get you some beadlocks. Because if the body made em pop the bead you know what's gonna happen when you get hung up on the rocks.

mascman,
when I first built my sw2 I went the same direction as you, trying to give it some realism. this season though I went a different direction, dropped the big bronco body and dropped on a bug body, since its lower and will give more clearance in tight situations. here's the link to it

baloo version 2.0

I am thinking about building a new rig myself, but rather than worrying about maximum performance, I plan on building it the way I want, while still keeping it legal for whatever class it's closest to. For instance it will be a scaler with a hard plastic body and lots of scale pieces, 10" width and 10" WB approximately, but I plan to run 2.2's so it will have more clearance than 1.9's so I can actually drive this thing more places. I'll keep it 2ws and I was already thinking about mounting the servo up under the hood. I guess when it's done, it will be a scaler, but would also be legal for 2.2, even if it isn't as competative as some... Look at my super, it's more scale than performance, but we don't have a class other than super for something that large! LOL!

I think you are being modest. That little tuber looks like it can kick some ***!

As far as building another rig, I only have one set of axles so whatever I come up with is it!

I think I have figured out what I'm doing...time to get bendin' and weldin'. ;)

Guys remember this is all for fun. The comp gives us a reason to perfect our rigs. I am not going to split hairs on classes. Maybe we merge the scale and 2.2 together. Same with the Super and Unlimited. We don't have any unlimited so Digger just runs with Super.

We want to make this simple and fun. Mike, build your rig how you want. We will decide where if fits.

Or maybe I can sell you one of my rigs...

That's pretty much what I've decided John...hopefully it will perform well and look cool doing it!

I was all ready to buy some more axles to build another rig, but with the weather breaking, the Harley needs put back together! With all the stuff I've done to it, I'll have to have it Dyno-tuned before I can even ride it so there's more money out the door!

Too many toys and not enough $$$$$$!!

Well, to tell you the truth, I just run my big silver rubicon for fun. I enjoyed building it and I really enjoy driving it on scale-type terrain. I don't really care how it does on "official" comps, but I'll enter it for the fun of driving it! Besides half the fun for me is learning the defficiencies of the truck and picking lines to accomodate them. No rig is perfect for every type of situation and even if it were, what fun would it be to drive it? Where would the challenge be? When you start to over-build your rig, what would normally be a hard course ends up being boring...

Build what you guys want, and keep in mind I have seen a heavy azz Boyer tuber keep up and make the final round in a comp against other comp built 2.2ers.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I just read the sticky in the Scale forum.

Seems to cover all the bases.

See what everyone thinks about using these for the guideline:

Just talking with Kodiakman and thought I would post this.

If anyone is looking to build a rig...here is how they lay out to date:

Supers - 6 rigs (one coming - Joe N. )

2.2 Comps - 17 Rigs (one coming - rckcrwlr )

Scalers - 6 rigs

We need to get the Supers and Scaler count up.

John
