| What to do?
I just recived a Goliath in a trade from a friend. It is the original kit and I am not sure if its worth putting the time and money into it. Need some opinions, and some insight. I am not too familiar with this kit.

I heard the ring and pinion are not too strong and I have no idea if anybody does upgrades for it. Matt |

I use a PTI GRU and a 55t motor. Brushless outrunners might not be a wise choice for motors. | |

You can buy the stretch kit to easily stretch the MMT to competition specs (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXSFG4&P=ML) but you'll need to buy 4" shocks. The PTI GRU kit is a must. I, too, have had few problems with ring/pinion gears when properly shimmed. I've found that I strip gears after the axle cases get worn around the input shaft, allowing it to wobble around. I've been using a brushless outrunner and a Quark33 ESC with good results but the 55T brushed motor is still smoother. A brushless setup is nice in a Goliath because it weighs very little in comparion; that helps considering the motor sits a little high; keeps CG a little lower. |

I just don't know if I want to put the money into it. I think I may sell it and buy an AX-10 or the Hilux.
