I got a pti in trade for building a scale'ish crawler for a friend.

Ok I got to say man what a heap of poo design wise.

The tranny if that's what you call it belongs on a carpet racer not a crawler.
The chassis lay out gives such torque flex having all the articulation is basically useless, you'll pull up to something and first thing it will do is tweak the chassis of to one side.
Then when it finally does start to crawl it will lift one of the front tires off the ground and then just flip.
Only real cure for this in stock configuration is to crank the spring tensioners down then lose all the articulation.

The chassis if you want to call it that looks like it came from a cheesy hard ware store.

The axles well those I'm 50/50 on.
The design was done as cheaply as could be from the looks, the dogbone from diff to drive cup is what has me most disappointed, eliminating any chance for an outer bearing on the axle ends.
The axles seem to be holding out quite well and from checking things out replacement parts are fairly cheap.

Why they bothered to put a body on it still has me baffled because if you cut the body to accommodate the articulation there would be no body left.

Crawling, sigh with out the body and ignoring the torque flex, it crawled ok but the tranny set up either makes it stall the motor or makes it lose traction and just spin or flip.
On flat crawls as in a course laid out on flat ground it does quite well, (again no body and ignoring torque flex)just flexing and taking to contours pretty well until coming to a obstacle that either stalls the motor or causes spin.

I've changed mine up a bit, pede tranny, and wider stance and plan on doing more to it.

Would I buy one of these trucks?
Probably not.
I got it in a trade for labor as I said and am just having a little fun with it seeing what I can do to it to make it better.

Getting to think trading it for a lunchbox would fix it up good lmao

Heres a few pics of it now

And a few picsof what I build for it

yes i use axial and beat mine DAILY with a 55t and they have never had a single problem!

i havent used a pti but from what i have learned is that im not going to use them from what i have seen like when a brushless motor ripps them in to what looks like lawn clipping on the inside
btw if ur not using Axial then ( imagine ricky bobby saying the axial add like big red)

Ya I have a full custom build on Wheely King alxes, it has a Novak SS 5800Kv run into a HPI gear reduction.
Talk about crazy torque, its super nuts. Sounds like a high powered drill lmao
the set up would eat the PTI diffs for a snack lol I wont even try it lol

Haven't ran pti's but the axials are a really good axle. Haven't even blown the stock gears in them and I'm running a puller 7t. Mind you not for very long but have held up fine so far. Also it seems to me and i may be wrong that the only $ you need to put into the axials are for aluminum hubs/knuckles.
