bout' time PTI listened up. PTI getting into rock crawling in the first place without metal diff gears was kinda goin' in the wrong direction in terms of durability. Those gears look like brass? If so, why not machined steel? Brass gears are Still WEak, an upgrade from nylon but still.......for rock crawling....

this is my oppinion and no one else. pti needs more than metal gears, they sell there product with giant tires and a 2 gear tranny .... wtf . it cant crawl over a mole hill let alone a rock with out a gear reduction. then with all the weight on that thin aluminum motor mount being held in by 2 peanut screws it flexes and strips the spur ... wtf . then the axles are plastic gears and you need to grind some of the plastic flashing away from the axles so the gears and bearings sit flush wtf. yea i would buy this kit again ..when pigs fly pos if you ask me , a 4 year old could build a better kit. but thats my oppinion, and who ever says that building is half the fun is half right ,but fixing it all the time is bs |

And scrap the axles.... TLT's obviously the better choice. Its a hack rig... But it was my first of its kind so i embraced it as I do lots of imperfect rc kits. (try small electric RC helis if you want REAL crap kits that don't do what they say they will do and require a TON of tinkering and downtime). Maybe that's why i view my experience with this rig as positive, despite all the trouble, I quite enjoyed changing its face TWO DOZEN times before getting it right. Worth nothing --- the motor mount plate sucks and stripped out early on for me... I have the smallest possible pinion with largest possible spur (with some dremeling of course) and a 1000kv brushless, goes PLENTY slow with plenty of power (3s lipo) and I modded the chassis with a 'support brace' holds the motor plate from flexing and no longer strips like it used to. And once its working ya don't mess with it. I'll probably stay away from the PTI axles for good, not worth the hassle. So yeah i can't really argue your opinion and commentary on its disavantages, only to say we make the best of the crap we buy and sometimes it works out in a unique fashion that wouldn't have otherwise developed. | |

Forgot to mention pti NEEDS to make Axle housings that has shock and link mounts already molded on. Using the old cantilever axle setup is OUT of DATE for rock crawling. It doesn't cost a whole lot more for minor retooling and such just to add on such mounts. PTI, you need to get ur act together and speed up. Losi, Axial, Venom is wayyyyyyy ahead of you....I mean just look at the Pti setup VS Losi's setup. PTI, if you want to get into the crawling scene, MAKE it Worth the While and Build STUFF right not half a55ing it with parts from other assorted rc cars.

I talked with PTI my self on the phone today because i got the pti pro modle and it did not come with front skid plate. I used this call also ask about the metal gears and they said only thing holding them up was enuf money to buy a big bulk order from the place making them for them. I then asked how long they think that will take and was told at worst late march . I cant wait im doing a big build and will need this thing to be strong

Yea they have been gragging on this. Hopefully they get the ball rolling on this instead of putting focus on a Nitro Crawler... Nitro Crawling just sounds like overkill if you ask me... But if adding a Nitro crawler involves metal gears and upgraded drive shafts then that would be awesome too!
