GPM makes delrin gears. I ran a set. They were stronger, lasted longer and the ran smoother. But I did manage to strip them as well. They're also a little expensive.

| Hi, I was fortunate to test a set of these gears with a set of Poulson axles and the TC3 diff. They are CNC machined and fit nicely in the housing. The pinion is stainless steel and the ring gear is hardened copper alloy that has been plated. I have run my set very hard in a rock racer that I built for a special race. I set them up with two shims on the ring gear side and one on the other side. I then set the pinion so there was very little or no play, but also no grinding when rotated. I did not use grease to start because I wanted to see any wear marks. I ran two packs and took it apart to check it out. A quick wipe to remove any stray pieces of metal flashing from inside the housing and then I put some grease on the gears. I put it back together and ran it for a weekend. I have not noticed any further wear after the last disassembly. I have a total of about 3 hours run time on a rock racer. Last edited by motorman1600; 04-26-2009 at 08:43 PM. |
