Default PTI Goliath Crawler at I-Hobby

Here is a short video of the PTI Goliath crawler in stock configuration with the exception of the tires changed from Imex Red Rocks, to Imex J-Hawgs,
and some lead added to the front end. I was literally amazed at how well it did for 11" wheelbase.

The course was by no means easy, most of the scale rigs never made it this far.

A great entry level truck at a great price. I can't wait to mod one out to find it's ultimate potential.

Uhhh... I stated that it was stock except for the tires and lead in my first sentence.

Yes it's the new crawler version. There will be a extended wheelbase kit coming in the future.

Hey, I made it up that far with a scaler! 3 times out of a hundred tries is pretty good.....

It did pretty good. How was the gearing on it? Was it slow enough or could it be slower?

It needs to be lower for sure. I didn't have a chance to fully inspect the truck, but it would appear that if the side plates were slotted you could fit a bigger spur on it. Or just add gear reduction. A 75T motor might do the trick too.

Too bad I couldn't make it out there with my Goliath. I've got a TLT too, and the PTI has no problems hanging with the TLT. And the PTI still uses the stock chassis. But the tranny definitely needs some gear reduction. The RC4WD unit would be perfect for it. But my GD-600 has worked flawlessly too.

The rock crawler version is nothing new they used off the shelf parts to make it what it is now. I had one for a while the normal version and made it to the crawler one using traxxas and hpi parts. One thing i very much disliked was that the diff gears were made of plastic. I never actually ran mine. I owned it for a year and a half and just sold it on the flea bay for as much as i bought it from some dude on 18th,com. I was very dissapointed in the whole thing. I'm sure it would be better at bashing than a good crawler. Yeah i used a GD600 too and that thing was still quick
