Looks nice. Looks like your chassis is flexing in the second pic.

yeah, the chassis has not been finished yet, i need to get a battery holder, mount the servo and electronics and put in cross braces. im planning on making top rails about a square rod quarter inch thick and bend them up to mount the shocks, it should look more scale that way.

PTI makes for great scale axles much more so tyhan TLT IMO, if you turn them upside down and sand a little it gets even better

Keep it up and have fun

is the witdth of the PTI axle the same as the TLT? Hard to tell from the pic but do that have the rear axel setup for rear steer; or is it solid. I am looking for a good solid rear axle for a scaler.

Build looks really good; brace up those rails and take the price tag off the one (first pic)

the axles are about the same width.
i think i'll have to get some goop off to get the sticker off completely.
the rear axle is the same as the front, but i have locked it out. pti designed the axles with a really good way to lock out the knuckles. im not sure what to use for braces, i was thinking of ordering sections of metal from onlinemetals.com, but i dont have a drill press, nor a good vice, so im stumped. i would like the brace to be tapped, rather than use a long bolt and nut. im thinking of changing the rails for a .25 inch square rod, and bending it. mounting things will be easier that way.

with the shocks, one of the spring sets has a spring about 1/4 inch shorter than the rest, WTF. but i already opened the package, so i dont know whether i can take them back.

While the PTI goliath axles do indeed look a bit nicer than the TLT-1 axles, I can tell you that the diffs are not NEARLY as smooth. Even with multiple re-assemblies of them and shimming I have not been sucessful in getting a really nice free rolling feeling from my PTI diffs. They work, don't get me wrong... it just isn't the quality that I expected for my money.

This build looks very nice though, good work on the chassis.

Hook the output of the pinion to your cordless drill and run it in (Break it in) so to speak, then shim and adjust. It will be much smoother.

Default Pti??

I have the new crawler and my diff's were tight also I put a drill motor on it and heated them while turning at a high rate of speed and my diff's are smooth as silk I am very happy with the quality for the money and they are much wider than stock TLT.We just did a comparisson at the last comp and TLT with wideners and offset roms are the same width as my axles

i found a place that can cnc for me. so i have 2 chassis ideas.

which do you guys like the looks of more? top or bottom?

also, how do i mount the battery cleanly on the chassis.
i saw on the orcrc courier he had a cool battery holder, it was like a little tub half as long as the battery. here it is (its on the front of the chassis.) http://www.orcrc.com/outings/PDRM3742.jpg where can i get one or two?

here are my designs

I'd say go with the bottom design. A smooth bottom will snag less. As for batteries, it would be pretty easy to make a cradle I'd think. Or go with a 1500mah lipo. They're tiny.

the links lead to that dropped section, it will not snag. the lower links are mounted to the bottom left and bottom right holes.

i decided on the lower design, though slightly modified. i made a prototype just to make sure everything lines up. this chassis is made of foam poster board.
the metal chassis will not "dovetail" like this one does, this one does it due to the thickness of the material, and the braces i used.

i like the top chassis design. looks like you can get the weight of the motor lower on that one.

update,
I narrowed a set of claw dawgs, and standard pti wheels. I also shaved the axles, i still need to smooth them out. I don't have the rails yet, so this is a mock up of what it should look like when its finished. i will open up the wheel wells when i get the rails, and everything mounted.
