Default PTI Goliath

Is this a good chassis for a beginner. What mods need to be done to make it work.

Just getting into crawling, been doing the plank thing for a while.

Thanks for the input

Search through the General Crawlers section:

Whether it's a good beginner crawler will be a matter of opinion. The Rock Crawler version (10.5" wheelbase) I think is a good beginner crawler because it comes ready for the rocks right outta the box, compared to a TLT, which pretty much sucks right outta the box. BUT it really needs a gear reduction unit installed or a 75T lathe motor due to the fact that the transmission is only a pinion and spur.

I have one its actually a 12" WB on the rock crawler version, definatly needs gear reduction even with a 55 turn but still a great little cralwer for the money. good way for someone to get into it.

A guy here in socal (OGMicromonster) runs a PTI in our comps and does great. He extended the WB to 12.5" and it does great. I'm sure he could offer a lot more help with his actual experience. Here's a pic of his rig.

I have an Goliath MT and the Crawler, and they are great trucks right out of the box. whether of not they are comp level crawlers, I will need to find out, but I'm sure with the right mods and driver, they will do as well if not better than what's out there. I hike with the trucks, every day about 2 miles through caynons, and they hold up really well, day after day. They can climb anywhere I go. The crawler is definatly better at that but the MT can kick up it's heels a bit and have a whole other level of fun as well as being very competent climber. The Crawler can cruise along much faster tahan I can hike. I need to use brake drag to decend, they have plenty of torque to climb though. If you get one, you will like it.
