Default The Illegal Alien

Finally it's put together. Behold The Illegal Alien .

What can I say, it's simply fantastic. I was able to pull lines like never before. A lot steeper sidehilling and climbs and almost 90 degrees without tipping over! Nice.
The reason might be the chassis being lighter and the weight I have on axles: LiIon on front axle and receiver battery on rear axle, sorry no images yet of the setup ( I was like a little boy driving around the rocks in the front yard, didn't have "time" to take images ;) ).

To sum up...
- The chassis is lighter than the original
- No installation points for radioplate nor to the body posts, both will be taken care of to the next version
- The front/rear brace point (below the big hole) is too close to the motor if using RC4WD GRU, will also be taken care of to the next version

Enough chit chat... Feel free to ask .

Float? Haven't tried ;).

No test drives yesterday because of the rain, and it seems it's going to rain the whole today too :(. We'll see... I'm going to take some images as soon as I get to drive it again.

Can't know everything .

The next chassis is going to be called something in Finnish, so you have something to wonder ;). Heehee.

Some images from today's drive-around-the-backyard
http://tomik.luola.net/index.php?dir...rawler&img=123 ->

The ground was still wet, because it has rained almost 24/7 for the last couple days.

Edit: The drive time was 1h 50minutes. Receiver battery took 1007mAh (1100mAh battery) and the drive battery took 1661mAh (3300mAh LiIon). Expecting some good drive times with the Castle BEC in the future .

it looks great!

since it is called the illegal alien, we know it can climb things really easily. it might even be able to swim quite well.

PS. Dont give me flack, you dont live where i do.

Tomik doesnt understand the climbing ability of our southern "friends", so he cant fully appreciate why I said we needed to add Illegal to the front of the name. It had originally just been the Alien chassis because if you paint it green it looks like an alien. But, with its increased ability to climb (thanks to the awesome design) Illegal Alien was much more appropriate.

Finally got the Poly Carb Chassis out on the rocks.... So much better, even with the small tires I had on it. Much more stable and easier to crawl. Im thinking Tomik hit the design spot on. I say we convince him to start selling them!!! Im proud to say I tested it... Ill be glad when I get the Aluminum copy to realy beat on.

iA version 2 ... More images as soon as I get it built and some more after I get some testing done. Also got new tires (Masher 2k) from Liquid RC, but first I have to test a bit with Moabs just to be fair for both of the chassis'.

The "iA"-texts are radioplates .

Edit: Still raining.. Some kind of rain season or something :(. It should be clear on weekend if not sooner.

Default Finally testing the v2

Finally an almost dry day. After almost a week! Just put the car together and head out. Forgot the rear diff gears slipped, that's the "krrr" -sound. Please, don't mind the radioplate, it's from an old installation . No adjustements done to the suspension either.

Here are a couple videos

And an image

The chassis is 3mm waterjet cut aluminum. The radio plates are 6mm.
