| Got tired of waiting for PTI's stretch kit
I finally got tired of waiting for PTI to come out with their stretch kit and was afraid the links would be the same as before only longer. I know a retired machinist with a machine shop in his garage. The parts cost me about $60. He made me 4 links, upper and lower shock mounts, and drive shaft stretchers. It seems to be working great. I designed everything so it would bolt to existing holes. I dont own a drill press and cant drill a straight hole by hand. The only thing I had to do was cut the drive shafts and I did it with bolt cutters. If any one is interested I can see if he could make more. Let me know and I will try to talk him down on price. This will be my first attempt to post pics so sorry if it doesnt work. This

I also had to use a drill bit to make the hole in the link ends larger to 6/32. In the rear there are two sets of holes where you can mount the upper shock tower. I tries the inner holes and kind of liked it better. That made the back sit a little lower and longer. Also KB and Skeeno any suggestions to make my setup work better would be appreciated since you guys seem to be the experts. Sorry if I copied anyones ideas.

To get the best performance I would lower the body till it's resting on the shocks. Your links would perform better if the upper links were lower on the chassis or higher on the axle (Anti Squat). You battery is a ways up in the air, lower the better. Don't mention that it is possible that you can sell (Kit's) As you would need a $100 vendor star to do so. Thread will turn into a flame fest or be deleted otherwise. Other then that it looks like a great start at a great truck. You have the right parts for a comp winner. It just needs a little tuning to make it a nationals competitor. |

I am using the mounting locations that the kit originally used now but I will try you suggestion and see if it works better. Thank you. Please dont anyone get me wrong. I am not selling a kit. I am offering to be the middle man between you and my friend the machinist. I am not looking to make any money off this. I could probably get him to do other machining if anyone needs anything.

I was thinking I could have made the threads on the end of the rod ends 3m so i didnt have to drill it out. I thaught the larger 6-32 would be stronger but it probably doesnt make a difference. I am probably loosing more strength by having to enlarge the holes in the rod ends. I found if I tap the holes on the rod ends instead of just letting the bolt make the thread they dont pull out as easily. I tried to super glue them but when I broke one the threads were all filled with superglue.

Why not post all those pictures in one post? Padding the post count are we? Nice blurry pictures too. | |

Sorry about the bad pics I will try to replace them with good ones. I tried to post all the pics in one post but it just kept replacing the last pic every time I added a new one.
