Thanks! I've made a few changes since the last update. I'll post some photos soon. But basically I've swapped out the T4 transmission in favor of an RC4WD R2 with disconnect. This change required me to make a new upper plate, relocate the electronics and install a shifting servo. I'll post photos as soon as I finish reinstalling the electronics. |

VERY nice work there, I really like that shot outside the office! I'll be interested in how the R2D works for you and what shift servo you find works best for ya Mine's just itching to be installed, need the chassis first! |

Your truck looks really nice. A lot of good ideas went into it. Great job! I've been wondering though, did you shim or lube the diffs? How have they held up for you under the stress of comps? |

I shimmed the gears in the axles and they've held up really well. I actually broke two dog bones (right side) at the same time when stuck. I also bent some other dog bones into and "S" shape. I think I might still have them. If I do I'll post a photo. It was pretty impressive. They were bent beyond use. After snapping the two dog bones I tore the axles apart to examine and replace the broken bones. The gears were not even worn (they had two comps and one practice session on them). They are back in and still running great. I've only stripped out one set of gears (one ring and one pinion) and that was on a non-shimmed axle I had in my stock GRC truck. I've since shimmed them and my buddy's been running it without any issues.

Yeah, GPM makes (or made at one time - I don't know if they are still availble) delrin gears for the TC3. They would still make the gears if someone placed a large enough order. I think they're minimum is 500-1000 pieces (250-500 trucks front and rear).

Yah, the PTI gears are just Associated TC3/TC4/NTC3 gears.

I hate to bring this up from the dead, but with the new steering do your dog bones bind when at full lock?

| They do bind a little, but I've also noticed with the stock steering setup it bound a little too. That was the reason most were breaking dog bones (they were wearing a thin spot on the bone shaft). I've replaced the stock dog bones with the new universal shafts and haven't had any issues. I no longer use this chassis because the suspension geometry just wasn't right. But I do still use the axles and steering setup on another rig.
