| axle clearance
I am running the GRC streched with 2.2 Moabs on narrowed pede rims. But it struggles clearing obstacles. I was just wondering how your trucks are running with out having such a hard time.

Who ever said they don't have a hard time My logic tells me that the line you choose will determine whether your diff gets hung up; moreso than any modifications you make to the axle. However, many people shave down those big hunks of plastic on each side of the diff to help get it to slide a little better. I simply flipped my axles over which gets those hunks of plastic out of the way and also creates a nice flat mounting surface for your steering servo. |

Personally I have to go with K_B on this one. Either flip or shave your axles b/c you cant always pick a line that suits your axle clearance and a little extra clearance never hurt anyone.

I shaved my axles this weekend but the weather didn't allow a trial run. Thanks for the info guys.

I flipped and shaved mine. I shaved my other PTI axles too. It definitely helps.

I also found I had troubles clearing obstacles when I switched from the Red Rocks to the 2.2 Moabs due to there smaller diameter. For me the Red Rocks work better in the places I run my truck than the Moabs.

no matter what tire ,,no matter what mods to axles are done,,,,you will always have clearance issues,,,,thats what rock crawling is all about,,do what makes your rig and you perform better,,,find out what works best for you...even in 1.1 clearance is an issue,,,pick better lines,,,use your steering to help navigate the rocks better...trial & error....

Good info. How much plastic is under the axle? I have stripped one of my rear lower link holes and was thinking about drilling through and putting a long pin through both lower links and the axle. Is this feasable?
