2nd to post pics on this site anyway. :-P It's not done yet but here's some pics of the assembly. I've been looking at gearing it down and getting a standard battery pack to fit in there. I've got a plan for the battery, but it looks like for some really low gearing it'll need a reduction; a GD-600 aught to fit w/ a little work. The axles are at 40/16 = 2.5. The stock 'tranny' is 81/18 = 4.5. So the final stock ratio is 11.25:1. You can put on an 84T spur w/ no mods; any higher and you need to dremel the skid plate, (which I did), use spacers, or make a new skid plate. Currently I've got an 87T spur and 15T pinion for a 14:1 ratio. The best I could find on Tower for 48P gears is a 96T spur and 12T pinion which would give a 20:1 ratio. I'll try what I've got for awhile, but it'd be real interesting to see what a GD-600 would do for it. I dunno the stock top speed, but it looks like the max reduction possible is 76:1, so if somebody could do the math using 4" and 5" tires, that'd be cool. |

Hey nice goliath. I should have mine tomorrow. Can't start building it till next week cause I have 1 more week of college. I plan to put an 84 tooth spur on it as well and the smallest pinion I can fit. Also I ordered the stuff to stretch it. Here's a pic of a stretched MMT from one 18th. I like it. |
