Default Looking to get into rally

Been thinking about it for a while, and am planning on getting a few rally cars to mess around with with friends/family.

I'm thinking about getting a few TT01's or 2's, doing the chassis mod for more travel, as well as the usual stuff the the TT's need (shocks, center driveshaft), and going from there with budget electronics.

Anyone see any issues with this, or recommend any other (cheaper?) cars to start with? looking to do this as cheaply as possible to start with.

I just picked up a xv01 long damper spec and body from asiatees for 250 shipped and got $10 off the order from a coupon code. Not sure of your budget, but compared to a tacon @ nearly $200 shipped, it was a no brainer. I already have electronics though...

i'm working on a tt-01 i bought for 35 bucks as a roller. Dropped the 20t stock motor from my Ridgecrest, a 10$ esc from hobbyking, some random servo laying around, and some 25$ ebay aluminum wheels with hpi rally tires. Gonna build a a belly plate and cover to keep the rocks out. Does pretty good and im in it for 70$-ish. It's not crazy fast but it moves decent, throws rocks and catches air. If you're just experimenting or looking for somthing to pound the hell out of, go cheap, upgrade when somthing brakes.
