| OS's Rally thread
I used to love Rally cars back in the day, and kind of have gotten away from them there for a while with scalers and what not. With the recent resurgence in rally cars, I'm back! Dug out all my old parts and have started reassembling my fleet. First one is a '93 Celica. This body came with the DF03 chassis, and I used the DF as on on road car, and this body was painted and set aside for future use. The time has come! Have a few old cars to re-do, as well as some new ones (XV01) on the way. Figured I'd create 1 thread and post all of them here. Where I started 4 days ago when I gave in to the rally urges...this body came with the rally interior kit: Body and interior complete...lots of painting and decals....took FOREVER! Misplaced some of the smaller sponser decals somewhere, but I'm not overly concerned about it. Didn't want to change up my DF, so I used an older TL01. Decent chassis for off-road use as most of the electronics are tucked down inside. Modded with the LA kit (a must for decent handling), speed gears, CVA's w/60wt oil, rear ball diff, front 1-way, and swaybars. Stock motor and 23t pinion. Not looking for a speed demon out of this one - have plenty of other cars to beat on and this is a somewhat rare and expensive body. A few poser pics..tooled around the driveway a bit. Runs great but the chassis won't accept any of my lipos and I've retired most of my NIMH at this point. Oh well. Charged one up as best I could and took it for a spin. Geared a bit too high with the speed gears, but sure looked great bouncing over the cracks and potholes. Front springs are way, way too soft and need to trim the bottom of the body a bit as it looks a bit hack in spots otherwise it's great! Love this car - I'm not one for doing all the decals usually - prefer a nice clean car but I like the way this one came out. Soft springs....front really sags. Have plenty here, just need to dig out a harder set. So that one's done. What's next? Build the XV? Have an old Super Nitro Rally as well collecting dust. Built this a while ago and have yet to run it. Actually left a Touareg semi-stock. Lowerd 6mm all around... came out pretty good but think I can do better. Hmm...never run TB02 and a lightweight suspension set. Found a set of old Proline 1.9 rally tires in my box...Possible rally conversion? More to come as I dig out my old rally parts. |

I am hoping the rally bug sticks this time, and these just help the cause. Can't wait to see what else you've got tucked away. I'm a little jealous of the celica, but if I had one, I would never drive it because of the rarity... |

That Celica is great. When did they put that on the DFo3RA?

The Celica is a beautiful car. Tons of detail on this body. Was offered with the DF chassis for a short time, they are now pretty hard to find. Was trying to decide which one to get and then I saw this one came with the interior, so it was a steal as it was actually $10 cheaper than the others. No idea why. Licensing reason I would guess. This one will be treated very nicely. Got a bunch of stuff in the pipeline. Digging through my stuff earlier - found another set of rally blocks and a couple other odds and ends I forgot I had. Just scored a Super Nitro Rally off Fleabay. Mint, bone stock it looks like. Love these cars. Have another one in new condition but in pieces at the moment - plan to build a nice solid runner out of them and have a good cache of spare parts. May convert to electric, not sure yet. |

| Re: OS's Rally thread Tamiya America Item #92200 | RC Castrol Celica '94 - DF03RA I think it was the second one to re released. And maybe the only one to come with driver figures. OSRC - is that the original driver set. I thought it came with a different set. Your one is the one I bought for my XV-01 lancer project. It's a great looking set! |

It is the original driver set that came with the DF03.

I really like the way the Celica came out. I've always loved that body, Can't wait to see the XV come together.

I know it came with the DF03Ra, was just looking for a time period. For example August 8th 2009 to January 17th, 2010. I have seen them before, but never noticed any availability for them before. Is the body mounted on the manual cover photo? |

OSRC, as I said on the other forum, the Celica turned out beautifully! Are the wheels and tires on it the ones from the origianl DF03 also?

Great looking Celica! I also have been a huge fan of Rally since I was a kid. I have the DF-03RA with a Subaru body, Lancia Delta, and Datsun body on it. I also have the M05Ra Alpine FWD Rally car. The Alpine is listed as 1/10 scale but seems more like 1/12 scale. It's a fun little Rally Racer but the DF-03Ra preforms better. Here is my DF-03RA with the Datsun body Lancia Delta body on it Stock Subaru body Here is the M05Ra Alpine ...sorry for the cell phone picture the body is sitting lower now |

Great collection! That Datsun looks fantastic. I have an Alpine rally somewhere, but it's sitting on an M06 chassis. Fun little thing, but limited by its size. | |

Yeah, I had the M06 Pro chassis, fun thing to drive but even on my road if it hit a decent pebble it could hang up! But for that size of a car it sure has some ZIP!

Couple of updates.... This was the TB02 before I pulled the plug..Eh... : And this is part of why I pulled the plug - got this on Saturday...looks much better (but for another thread): Got the XV chassis done and took it for a topless spin. First off, those Pirelli's are some darn nice tires. Pretty grippy, both in loose dirt and on the road...oops, i mean tarmac. Chassis setup out of the box is spot on, though I bumped up the pre-load a bit as the front of the chassis was hitting everything. Laying down some paint tonight. Pair of SNR's brewing...1 will be converted to electric, the nitro one I have no idea yet. Only have a Subie body left, in a rare showing of actually not hoarding anything, I tossed out my old Skyline body. :( It was in good shape, though the paint was terrible. Had I known then that I could strip it, I would have kept it. If anyone was curious, here are the AKA tires on the SNR wheels...not feeling it. |

Yes sir. Box art shows it w/o the rear wing, but it came in the kit so it's going on. No light buckets though??
