Default Center Dif or Center Slipper or Both

I have there old school TA01 runners.

Now I am toying with a sloooow build up of a better rig.
I have an HPI alum pan and difs. Some misc shock towers and shocks.

Question is, what is everyone's pref or knowledge on:
  1. Center Differential - sealed gear, greased gear, ball
  2. Center Slipper Clutch
  3. Both!

I am leaning towards dif.

For both, it could be Durango's slipper dif.

Or I was looking at what ratio my old TA01's have, and it is about 10:1 reduction.
I have a Traxxas Ruslter trans sitting here, that has a dif and a slipper on it.
I believe it to be 2.5:1. Axle difs are 3:1.
If I ran it with a 30:54 Pinion/Spur the final would be 13.5:1.
So I could run it on 2s with a 3800-4000kv or on 3s with a 3000kv and be about the same as my TA01s.

If you went with Dif only. Prob worth going sealed gears, so you can tune it with silicone wt.

But do you need a single or dual brake to get the bang out of it?

X2! Go sealed Diff, it offers the most tuneability and best handling characteristics. Plus they are generally extremely durable.

So what about brakes?
Rear only?
Front and rear?
Pushrod on ESC ch. with springs and rod clamps to tune them? Worth it??

Could be cool, but think about weight too. These cars work bettter nice and light and with a forward bias. Although adding something like a rear brake would be really cool, if it makes the rig too heavy it is not going to drive correctly and will be taxing on parts.

I am trying to picture the cars reaction to heavy motor braking, with shaft brakes installed.

Full into a short straight.
Motor brake before corner.
Weight shift to the front.
Torque on front wheels and weight off the rears causes the dif to shift the motor braking to the rear - ?
Which flatens the car out?

So is anyone out there with a converted nitro platform, running a center dif?
If so, what kind - ball or gear? Sealed or not?
Anyone running a center slipper?
