HPI Pirelli D Compound - Just finished gluing them so we will see. These from R2 Hobbies do pretty good on hard packed dirt and on pavement but wear quick. 1/10 RC Car Touring Tire 26mm with insert sponge (4pcs) R2 also has these that look like they might do ok. http://www.r2hobbies.com/1-10-rc-on-...onge-4pcs.html Their prices are cheap and they have tons of wheel options. Shipping is a little steep and takes 2 weeks since it is coming from China. |

I really like my new HPI Pirelli tires, they seem to work good so far on all surfaces. I bought the harder compound. |

KYOSHO FAT101 Not the most Scale tire out there but with medium foams it works great on sand & gravel and on hard packed snow TAMIYA 50810 Racing Semi-Slick looks good for shredding tarmac but no. they might work with silver-cans but even mild ( 3300 kv in my case ) brushless system will kill these in under 4000 mAh, no traction what so ever. |

Tarmac tires for Kyosho DRX. I put a set of Pro-Line Road Rage 2.2 tires on my DRX. I mounted them with the stock Pro-Line foams, and on the stock DRX wheels. They grip so well on tarmac, that it wouldn't brake loose even with a 3s battery. Close-up of the Pro-Line Road Rage tires, mounted on stock DRX wheels. This is them. As a complete noob to off road rc (crawling and rallying) whats the score with foam inserts? Do you need to run them? When you said medium, I assume they come in different forms. Is hard better for tar and soft for gravel? Any help much appreciated. Dave |

From my experience Kyosho DRX Foams are in different thickness and that is how they rate from soft, medium etc. For the 10th scale cars I run standard touring cars foams, I have never felt the need to get all fancy with the foams, since conditions change constantly and it is more about driver skill then anything. Foams do matter though, I have ran a few sets of rally tires without foams and there is a noticeable difference... At least to me.

I was about to order some HPI or Tamiya block tires and came accross the ones below. Could only find them in UK, Germany and Japan though. Tamiya M-Chassis Rally Block Tyres 51427 |

They are made for the Tamiya M vehicles. The vehicles they go on are more like 14th scale, I'm not even sure the wheels are 1.9s... Maybe someone who has them can answer that one.

The rim size is 1.55" , od is 60mm. Swelis signature has Vendetta rally in it so I think those are perfect for it.

Nothing new as far as the tire, but I have been playing with tire sipping and grooving. Since the 1/10th scale Tamiya rally block is pretty easy to get ahold of I started cutting up some of the extras I had sitting around. Stock tires work decently well, but have a tendency to pack in wet dirt conditions. The tall lugs do throw loose dirt pretty well, but there is room for improvement. First sipping I did. It softened up the carcass of the tire and allows it to flex more then stock. They pull better in dirt conditions then the stock tires and clean out much better in wet conditions. This is my newest sipping/grooving. I wanted something that would work well in wet/snowy/icy conditions. So I kept the height of the lugs and opened up the tread quite a bit. These ones are untested still, but when conditions change they will go on the car. |

Wonder how these would be?? I really want to try them, but $50 for rally tires is rough. Wonder what the sidewalls will look like stretched over a 1.9 or 2.0 wheel? I really want to try these RC4WD 1.7 Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ 44mm ID 75mm OD 23.5mm wide X4 compound Reinforced sidewalls. $25 (2) Last edited by sweli; 12-10-2012 at 04:40 AM. |

For those that have the WR8 How are you liking the off road tire. I also see there is a new red compound off-road coming out soon. |
