Default My rally cars

Over the last few years, I have been busy rebuilding various rally cars and love them all, here is a quick run down so far.

Tamiya TA01/02.

I've had a few of these with various bodies, a good reliable prop driven car, only really needs the alloy motor mount hop up and the plastic idler gear retro fitted to the 01's to make it bomb proof. Only real down point, stones get jammed in the battery slot making removal difficult.

Tamiya TA03 (f/r/s)

Front motored, belt drive, makes a great tarmack car as they do four wheeled drifting really well. No good on the rougher stuff as the tub fills fast, the belts are uncovered and the suspension arms run really low.

M03

Versatile FWD chassis, usually wearing a Mini shell, stick a set of rally blocks and it's a great car.

HPI Rally RS4

Belt driven, 4wd, inner body to keep out the crap, very fast with the right motor but bad ventilation. I added a fan to the inner body and it's sweet!!!

Kyosho pureten Mk1

Basic converted buggy chassis, also belt driven with an inner body, suprisingly good when fitted with oil shocks and the plastic steering arms replaced with turnbuckles.

TT01

Very basic, needs a fair bit of work to make it a good off roaster, not my favourite at all, but some swear by them.

TB01

My favourite rally chassis, based on a nitro chassis, bullet proof, only really needs the steering hop ups and the alloy motor mount. Comes with an inner cover and with drivers. I have used these with loads of bodies.

I'm trying to build a Colin McRae collection, Scooby Impreza's, the Metro 6R4, a Vauhall Nova, the Focus's, a Xsara WRC, the Skoda Fabia WRC and if I can ever find one, the Subaru Legacy RS.

It may take me a while,,,.

Managed to pick up a couple more yesterday after someone stopped for a chat whilst I was out driving my Slash, now also have an M01 BMW Mini, an M03 Mini Cooper Monte Carlo and a TA01 Ford Escort Cosworth with the whale tail.

All in mint condition.

I love that whale tail Cosworth body, I wish they would re-release it.

I saw that one. They have been putting it on the TT-01 for over 6 months now, but I still can't find just the body set.

I was after the body set too, I know TBG were doing them a few years ago but they seem to have moved on.

I still can't believe I found these just by chance. You should see the guys garage, it's an RC nuts dream, full of Nitro racers and aircraft.

That's the one, back in production again.

All I need now are a couple of Audi Quattro's and I'm a happy man.

No, they are like rocking horse poo to find too. I think I have an old spare one in a box at home, I'll have to dig into it over the weekend and look.

Let me know if you have a wing and how complex it is. If your interested I could probably make a mold of the original and start making a few repops.

I know I would be interested in that.

Been a bit busy as of late with a new job, Christmas and not been well with this bug that's sweeping the UK like the plague.

Managed to pick up a few chassis pretty cheap so my rally collection grows once more. Two more TB01's stripped and rebuilt with turnbuckle top arms, delrin steering sets and delrin hubs, although both are waiting on alloy motor mounts. One wears a Richard Burns Scooby prototype bug eye shell, the other one is waiting on an unpainted TBG Audi Quattro S1 shell I found on eBay in the states for 99 cents and 11 bucks postage to the UK. Shod be here this week with any luck.

Add to this a TA03F Suzuki SAx4, and a TL01LA with a Focus ST shell and a TA04 with an Evo5 shell I think I've not done bad over the holidays.
