Default New rc owner xv-01 build x2

Ordered 2 xv-01 long damper spec kits for the wifey and I for her birthday and after a month long wait they're finally in the us. Should be here tomorrow too bad I have to wait like 2 weeks to play with them cause her birthday isn't til the 7th. Starting a thread now for my build thread gonna have both in here looking forward to any advice and comments you guys have for me. Been lurking so I have an idea on what upgrades I want to put into it in the future, currently it's gonna be pretty stock though.

follow TY's post build.. and everytime he mentions an Upgrade... DO IT!
we're learning the hard way! XJ1 (both and the seperate ones too are mandatory)
Savox 1251 servo seems to be the best choice on speed

our group has 3 vx01's... 2 of them don t have cvd's and they are constantly losing their dog bones.. CVD's i think are included in the long travel kits..

I was playing with the car last night just finished building it that morning and within an hour I lost a screw that held on one of the rear shocks and the doggone went flying went through and tightened down the screws the best I could. Thank god I had extras from the e bag.

Finally finished everything for mine including body paint. I usually like to be creative when I do paint jobs. But unfortunately turtle made such a bad ass paint for his first body. I kinda sorta stole his paint theme.

CVD= Constant Velocity Drive. Its a ball and socket drive shaft that allows more steering angle. A very nice upgrade that allows you to utilize maximum steering throw of the XV-01.

Nice job on the paint. It can be quite the learning experience.

Unfortunately due to user error I put decals on before taking off the over spray film so I had to scrap some decals on this body, however it still looks good with just paint so I'm not too mad but now I know before I mess with the decals for The second xv01 which I just finished building yesterday because my wife gave up on it. So gonna paint her evo x body so she has a car to play with too.

Well lucky for me I was lazy and didn't use all of them before I realized it, but also didn't plan on using them cause I wanted it to look more like an every day driver with an obnoxious paint job lol.

So I cracked my pinion gear. I dunno if it was user error or the slipper clutch or the gear itself but had to go buy a new one today.

Since we have the same radios I figured I'd paint them to make them more noticeable to each other
The Orange on hers came out really well, but my blue looks not much different then the black it was before I'm sure I'll change the color again later. But it's all good for now.
