| WRC Ford Escort (TT-01)
I finally bit the bullet and picked up my new rally car... Chassis is a Tamiya TT-O1 ES Xb, yeah it is a rtr 2.4 GH Tx/Rx with a pathetic Teu-105 Bk ESC, and horrible servo, the ESC is rated @7.2 volts, so no lipos for this car. I know the chassis isn't the best but I couldn't pass up the body. I have always loved this era of WRC and always been partial to fords. Anyway on to the pics... These are taken on my tablet, @5megapixles so the quality isn't great, but you get the idea. Last edited by lonleycreeper; 04-12-2014 at 10:44 AM. |

What I plan to upgrade.. Going for a tarmac setup. I lowered the body by one hole on the body posts all around, need to trim them. Going to replace the stock electronics with a water proof ESC/servo. Budget friendly of course. I understand the center driveshaft is rather weak, so that will be replaced as well. I would like to put some 5 or 6 spoke rally rims on it, and some decent tires, treaded but not rally block. She will get an aluminum skid to protect the belly. And lastly a basher body, this one is just to pretty to beat up. Inspiration... Hahaha... Cutting the battery ribs off is always painful, but it's absolutely necessary in order to fit today's battery, isnt it? What esc are you planning to use? |

I have a dynamite laser I have to take out of my Cco1, 2s 12t rated, the teu will end up in the Cco1, as that only runs NiMH. I really wish Tamiya would bring their cars into the 21st century... |

Got the lipo in, lol I know I said no lipos but I couldn't pass up the deal on this one. So 1 modified battery tray. Got my rims and tires in, Tamiya rally blocks and Tamiya 5 spokes. Fortunately for me the stock tires were not glued, so I mounted the stock tires on the second set of rims. Anyone have some tire suggestions for running on polished concrete? I am thinking of picking up some soft semi slicks. Last edited by lonleycreeper; 04-10-2014 at 09:44 PM. |

| Re: #7 Mk5 WRC Ford Escort. In Tamiya club races, although we all use spec TEU-105bk ESCs, we also use LiPo batteries and never faced any failures whatsoever. Therefore, I can assure you that you could use LiPo batteries using your stock electronics.

| Re: #7 Mk5 WRC Ford Escort. Oh, cool. Just looking at the specs I didn't think I could. Is that stock gearing? Rally or just tarmac?

I dug out my Novak lipo shutoff, good for 2-4 s. Going to eliminate the bullet connectors and put a traxxas plug on the ESC hopefully tomorrow. Then I will take it to work and get some parking lot running in... Action pics too. |
