Thinking about getting one of these GoolRC 21T brushed motors with a 60amp esc combo, they have a 23T, I want a little motor speed, they also have a 17T brushed motor and a 13T brushed motor both of which would a little too much for the TA02

They have brushless motors and Esc Combo's but want to keep it simple and go with a brushed motor, it should be fast enough to have fun with

Check the specs on those... They are not under spec'd. The 13t only makes 30,000rpm @ 3s, a Reedy radon 17t makes 26-30,000rpm @2s...so consider your kv rating. That makes that 21t like a 30-35t on 2s.

Well now I don't know, I think a brushless setup especially on 3S would be too much for the drivetrain and would end up breaking something

That why I was leaning towards a brushed motor to keep it from tearing up the drive train, not sure how to pick a motor for on road car

In my Crawlers, I use both 35t brushed motors and 13t Brushless motors, and use 2S and 3S and have not broken anything, yet

Cause the transmission has metal gears and Beef tubes in the axles and some have Mips drive shafts

Not sure how to beef up my TA02 and my Subaru Brat, too use higher power motors both brushed and brushless

Need help picking setups for both of my vintage Tamiya's RC's

Hey kongluc

I see Tamiya has a GT Tuned 25T brushed motor that has more torque the 27T Silver Can motor and will work with the Traxxas XL5's Esc's I already own

Thinking that be a fun combo and both would work great on 2S Lipo's

Tamiya makes 23t motors also that are rebuildable

Been collecting parts for years and forget exactly what I have, I found 3 brand new Holmes Hobbies Trial Master 13.5T brushless Sensored motors and 2 used First Generation Tekin Redline 13.5T brushless Sensored motors and Castle Mamba Max Pro esc

I'm not sure if I can use the 13.5T brushless motors for on road use, cause they are Crawler motors and not sure if they work with out the sensor cable, I always have used the Sensor cable and never thought about it

I kept digging and also found 2 brand new Axial Vanguard 2900KV brushless motor and 2 brand new Axial Vanguard AE-3 esc's, they are un-sensored motors and should be better for on road use

If I wanted to get really crazy, I have a Short Course setup, its Castle 3800KV brushless un-sensored motor and a Short Course version Mamba Max Pro esc

So I mounted the 2900KV motor and the AE-3 esc in the Brat and going to put the other 2900KV and esc in my TA02

Its cheaper for me to use what I already got

The 2900KV brushless motors are none Sensored and are close to a 19T, or 20T or a 21T motor, cause the 13.5T brushless Holmes Hobbies and the 13.5T brushless Tekin Redlines motors are Sensored

And are 3300KV or 3400KV or 3500KV depending where you look at online, I can't really find the KV's or the number of turns the motors are

So the 2900KV brushless motor should be ok on 2S lipo, not sure if I want to try a 3S lipo, that may be pushing my luck and could end up break something and I don't want to do that

The TA02 had the biggest pinion that will work with the motor mount its a 21 tooth pinion, I might want to use a 18 tooth or a 19 tooth pinion Correct ??

The biggest pinion for the Brat is a 18 tooth pinion, So I might want to use a 15 tooth or 16 tooth pinion Correct ??

Cause you are supposed to drop one or two teeth on the pinions when you switch too Brushless Correct ??

I can change the spur gear in the Brat cause the replacement set had 3 different size spur gears

The TA02 I think you have to buy the high speed gear set to change the gear ratios not sure, cause I seen them, when I bought the stock gear set to replace the original worn out spur gear
