Y'all want at 6 courses. (Me too) but by my count we need some where near 18 judges (thats just for 2.2pro) I've seen 5 outright volunteer (maybe 6 if i missed somthing subtle or back a few pages)

Now if I was JRH id be a little worried about how things are going to turn out and start looking at alternative ideas. (Like team judge format)

Like I said, we need to take more ownership for our hobby.

I'm listening and certainly want to see the event be as badass as possible. I don't like being this close to the event and still needing to tie up judges, the few months leading up that I thought was going to be 100% devoted to organizing has been shanghaied by a client needing motors. Even so, you guys are stepping up big time to help get it sorted and tell me what you want. That is all I really need, some gentle help and suggestions.

Judging thread has been updated with my agreement that 2.2S and 2.2P should have dedicated, compensated judges. Right now I just have basic cash payment, Ill go in there and add some more ideas on getting judges well compensated.

I really hope the number of courses can be reconsidered?

2.2p is the bread and butter. The majority of us show up for this class. To short it just to cram in other classes that many/most do not care about does not make sense. I think you have to give us a great 2.2p class with lots of courses. If 2.2p does not go well and people dont have a good time with it, I would go so far to say that the whole hobby will die with it.

3 or 4 courses does not find a winner. You need more courses to find a better average. When you have that few of courses, it then all comes down to luck and course knowledge, many courses finds the true champion.

It takes the same time for 50 competitors to do 1 course as it would take 50 competitors to do 50 courses.
The only reason it would take longer to run the courses is if the competitors do not run them in a timely fashion. At BOTW, I set it up so you had to run courses in a certain order. It went great and we were able to do 8 courses even with a significant rain delay.

I will wake up and set up every course if it brings us more courses. I know many others are willing to take this sacrifice too. 4-5am is not too big of a deal to me, probably wont be able to sleep past 5 anyway.

I am lucky that I am close to this location. I sympathize for the guys that have a long way to travel and a lot more money that needs to be spent. I imagine some of these guys could be spending $2k on this trip? I then think, how much are they paying per course if you were just to show up for 2.2p. Wow! Thats $500 PER COURSE! $100 PER MINUTE! Thats crazy!

I really think its owed to everybody to pack in as much drive time as possible. There is no doubt I can make this happen even if its just me pulling all the weight and I am willing to do it.

Again, sorry for the rant and I hope you dont take it personal as that is not the intention. I, like you and everybody else, just want to have a fun filled comp.

Not taken personal at all. Lets see what we can come together and improve on this event. If yall say we can manage 5+ courses, then lets do it!

As long as judges and courses are handled well, I will be sure that we have a fast and efficient score keeping system to have scores available almost immediately when cards are turned in. We are planning to adapt our order processing system to work with a driver barcode so it can be scanned and quickly punched in without having to manage a spreadsheet in the typical method.

If being a judge didn't come with an actual or perceived disadvantage we'd have plenty to choose from without paying them a cent. We're struggling with this endemic mindset today as we have for years. I will build a course and judge it all day at every "big" comp I attend. It's been that way for a while now. That's what it takes to maintain a level playing field and thus preserve the point of each event. I'll do so at Nats in the event I can make it there this year. Otherwise, I sincerely (and hypocritically) hope that each course is judged by the same, very small 2 maybe 3 person team of judges all day.

Competition without consistent standards (and at least 5 courses and a final) defeats the purpose of the event and belittles the accomplishments of top performers.

Thanks Erik.

It's a trail that it's on, so here's the closest road to get to it, you have to cut off from Pioneer Rd. It's complicated to describe how to get there, google the road in Logadale, nv.

I will just follow someone from the hotel on day one. If I'm out early the way I'd like to be, any help will be appreciated!
