Default DMG/Bully/Mayhem - Finally...

So I finally got all the parts needed for this build... took a while but surely enough...

No comps for me so this is more about the looks and relative performance... its hard to compete with a torsion chassis when you have so much damn weight up top (but I personally think the DMG looks a hella of alot sexier than any TVP to date :-P)... anyways... focused on throwing all the weight down low... weighted wheels, heavy axles etc... this barely offsets the heavy tube frame up top. Guess I will only find out how it performs once I have it running.

Noticed a couple of things about the setup on these DMG chassis... you really need to use the shorter shocks for no other reason than to bring the COG lower... with the taller shocks, the whole setup becomes much more unstable (better articulation)

One note that I would like to make is regarding the Bully axles. 20 years in the hobby and I can't remember the last time I held such a high quality piece in my hands... these axles are just AMAZING. I have the V3 so I am hoping I won't be stuck with clown wheels... either way since the titanium cvds are out (or will be out) I guess I have a fall back option should they bend/break.

On to the pics, let me know what you think

Great build!

I'm really starting to hate this forum... My Wheely King was only supposed to be a budget and cheap crawler build. Now I'm ordering all these parts to change it up because of reading threads like this.
Everytime I decide on one thing- it changes almost 5 mins after reading someones Bully or Berg build.

Back on topic. It's a sick crawler man! I definitely favor the tube chassis over the TVP when it comes to looks. Nothing seems cooler to watch.

How do you wire the Motors to the ESC? is it just splicing them together and wiring it up to the Rooster?

Hiya Mudman thanks for the kind words.

Yeah, its rough... I realized young that it's better to just buy quality stuff so that you don't "waste" too much money on the options... I mean a set of Bergs will set you back 200 bucks but after bullet proofing the ax10 axles, I'm sure it comes out to the same (or similar)... same goes for crap electronics... definately better to buy quality then buy ten cheap escs only to have to buy another cheap one a few days later.

As for the motors, yup, just splice and wire! =) Another option is using dual escs...

Looks like you've inspired me to just skip the AX10 axles and just go Bully's in a month or two. Need to see how my Wheely king does with the Black Widow chassis (still hasn't shown up!) does first.

Who makes that chassis? And when will she be done? It would be sweet to see a video of it in action.

Hey Mudman,

The ONE and ONLY Zorloc (user name). Look up DMG (Death Metal Garage).

I hate torque twist... how does it make sense to have a crawler (which requires the utmost balance) lift one wheel everytime you pull the throttle... yeah I know how to get rid of it but that doesn't mean I like it! =)

Mudman, my advice to you is research... I mean really find the kind of rig you are looking to build and simply acquire the parts needed. Don't waste money on "cool looking" parts... useless do-das etc... just find what works for you and work from there.

PM if you want more info Buddy.

Mike

Glad you finally got your rig. Zorlac is second to none with the aluminum. Also full droop with straight lower links works pretty well with the DMG's. Plus IMO the look better as a belly dragger

Kewl Build!

Could you tell me if the rear axle has the V3 version straight axles?

And do they have the updated hex setup?

ThanX

Yes!!! this is one thing that you should do. I ruined some gears in a Berg axle on like the second pack:-(. My intentions were to run a little then break it down a go through it. I should have done it first

So this builds been done for quite a while... love the looks, not too sure about capability. Threw it on the back burner and started on a new rig... Bully V2 w/ VP Incision... for those interested, take a look.
