| RC4wd Bully Steering Modification - How To Write-Up Ok guys here it is. For everyone looking for a write-up on how to get more steering out of your bully's..... Start by disassembling your knuckles and your shafts. I used a burr tool with a bull nose tip if your bur has too much taper to it you don't get the right angle to remove material of the cup on the outer shaft. SO I put the outer shaft into a vise and hit it with the bur bit for 5 seconds. it should look like this... then you need to make the notch for the pin in the inner shaft longer to allow for extra pin travel I did it with a 3/32 drill bit Make sure to do both sides. of the CV. Then it’s time for the housing modifications. using the same burr bit remove material inside the inner knuckles i forgot to take pictures of the grinding on the outer knuckles but the process is the same. then re assemble with grease and plenty of lock tight..... Pictures taken with stock AX10 rims and New losi Comp claws now all you have to do is figure out how the hell your going to mount your shocks and arms to use all this new steering. Thats awesome. Tons of steering. What link and shock combo are you using. The steering on my bully hits the lower links before it bottoms out steering. Nice job.

i dont knwo what i will be doing for links but i will be running losi 4" shocks on mine. i'm considering running 1/4" delrin lower links and making 2 sets fo them incase they break. that way i can keep it hella tight to the gear case. |

Flat out Awesome write up man! that's what I've been needing to see. Any idea on what size bit that was used and was it for a dremel? I might have to see about chucking up the shafts in the lathe. Great info tho. Thanks a bunch. |

the burr bit is a 1/2" the drill bit is a 3/32 i used an aluminum burr bit in a standard electric drill. the aluminum burr bit has less flutes and works better at lower RPM. These axles are a soft metal the bit wont work for very long on mild steel |

Also something good to know that I didn't even think of before modding mine. I have the V1 bully's so I believe I had the V2 xvds anyways don't use the inner shafts on those like I did or this will most likely happen. Because they are stainless. Use this version or newer. Haven't used this version yet but I am sure it is stronger than the stainless version. |

This mod was done on the V2 bully's. if you just grind the knuckles you get some much better steering. if you grind the shafts you gain a HUGE amount of steering. but tthe V2 shafts are extremly hard i hope they can take the grinding. |

nice pics and write up...I got 50* of steering using this mod but cant use that much of it since I have lower links and shocks but it's better then stock....seems to be holding up really good with 4s lipo too.

Im definitely going to try this. I think with some smooth lower links in the front i can use all the steering and still keep the sprung chassis! Great write up |

if you make 50* work the links wont be the problem...you will need a motor guard so you don't shred your tires on the motor bell and brush's..unless you got a really wide front end?? I'm super happy with the extra I have got....up hill digs for the win!! |

Did you mod the knuckles too?? It looks like they are shaved a bit, Pics would be helpful. I'm just now putting my Bullies together and I'd really like to get more steering out of them. So I'm gonna start modding my XVD's and tubes. I have a berg too with VP knuckles and Super 300 CVD's' and I have TONS of steering. I'm just building an extra crawler for prototype testing with Bullies cause they were cheaper. So far I'm impressed with how Heavy Duty they seem compared to the bergs, But they are DAMN HEAVY!!!!! I'm ordering new lightweight tubes and case for the rear axle to shave some weight. |
