| Which version bully to buy
I've been doing research to start a build an MOA I'm not sure I will ever comp. but who knows. I know there has been thousands of mods done on the old v1 bullies but don't know how much of it is necessary for reliability. What I do know. Bully- $140 a set around 2.5# Bully2- $350 a set around 1.5# For just building a basher or fun rig is 1# worth over $200? Is there anything else I should know about the two versions? |

the bully2s do not need the :"thousands of mods". from the machined aluminum housings, low center of gravity, low servo mount, predrilled and tapped knuckles for knuckle weights, etc..., these are the best out of the box axles to date. the original bullys would need at least grinding on the knuckles for a bit better steering, a lot of work to get lower cog, lot of work and money to lower weight, and a good chance of not finding spare parts, would offset the slightly lower cost. anyone who has held both would not hesitate to recommend the bully2s with a clear conscience. |

Ok thanks I was thinking a lot of the modifications were done just trying to make the original bully as competition capable as the berg or xr10. But these are really needed to make them capable at all?

they were capable but the more avid competitors worked to get the axles to be their best it was taking more and more effort to better the bullys. rc4wd spent a lot of time and effort to incorporate as many of the preferred mods into the new bullys. nothing wrong with the old bullys but parts are becoming scarce. if you have looked at build threads on both, you can decide what all you want out of whatever you build. 150.00 dollars is not that much when you look at the final cost of the completed crawler. do the math and consider the effort and time to do the build. all I can say is that the bully2s are sexy in that black matte finish |

I would also recommend the Bully2 axles. I have put my Bully2 axles through hell and can take a punishment!

I still run my lightweight bully v1 axles, I just installed them in my new 5th dimension dominator chassis after breaking my Chaotic switch chassis. I don't do comps I just crawl around on my property. If I were to do some comps I definitely would upgrade to the new bully 2 axles to be competitive. My bully v1's have been bomb proof but since you don't have any axles I would spend the extra money on the bully 2's. Parts are getting scarce for the v1's and at the price you posted must be for the cast v1 axles that weigh alot. |

I dont know if it is the cast or not the price I posted was straight off RC4WD site. All the input I have gotten, age of the v1 (possibly discontinued soon due to bully2 popularity), and all of the awesomeness of the bully2's have me almost sold. But I read Dlux thinks MOA will change in the weeks to come so I might have to hold off a little while. Thanks to all for the input I appreciate it greatly |

Those are cast on RC4WD 's site they only have a few parts left for the cnc light ones. Good to know if there is a change. I almost pulled the trigger on the bully 2's until I broke my frame and fried my Fxr's. So now I need to save up again. |

| Re: Which version bully to buy Fell off the retaining wall onto another wall for the planter breaking the frame were the shocks mount. It was only one shock mount in front. The Fxr's were my fault I plugged my Bec in backwards but I don't think that was it, but the cap popped and smoke was coming out. Earlier I was having problems with one glitching out leaving no power to the rear, it has been an on going problem. Now I'm running the Holmes Hobbies brxl mini's. |

The Fxr's I had to smash myself, their good but pricey, mine were a couple of years old so they served me well. I was going to buy another pair used but they were only $4 cheaper than the HH's new, and the HH's already come smashed so it was a easy decision. And I got a good price on them. I just got my rig put together this week and it's been raining so I haven't had a chance to really test everything. The creek beds on my property are running pretty good and this is were I crawl since it's mainly rocks On the HH's I like the programming I think it's much better and the Holmes hold is a nice feature. The only problem I had was with the castle link software, getting it to load on Windows Vista 64bit, it took quite a bit of time to figure it out. After doing alot of reading it seems like I'm not the only one with this problem. Once that was done and a reboot of the computer the esc's were a breeze to set up for my liking. | |
