Well..............I broke the T1E about a week before the Utah State Championships and needed a chassis. I was given a Droid w/ links so i threw it together. I didn't get a chance to run it because there were no open spots. I didn't have a ticket but was in Vegas for the weekend so i drove up there. So my first comp with it was today. I like the chassis better than my T1E and i think it will work even better with a little tuning.

With the layout of the shocks and the angle they are at there is no clearance issues with the cases. Which is nice

I have new production chassis plates now that are longer so i put 6mm spacers in the shocks and stood them up.

I also got a set of Sedonas I have been wanting to try them for a while now and won a set at the last Back Yard Boys comp (thanks CrAwLeR13)

This is the production chassis. It is a little longer where the shocks mount.

Thanks. I would have had second at the local comp yesterday but i broke a XVD pin and didn't finish the last course. The side hilling is amazing. Especially for the belly height. I am right around 3 3/8".

How did you break your T1E? Do you have any pictures from the bottom and pictures from the top showing the battery installed? How is the Droid on vertical climbs after cresting as far as breakover clearance compared to the T1E?

To be honest i haven't really noticed a difference in the break over ability. My T1E was at 3 3/8 at the front of the skid and 3 5/8 at the rear. My Droid is at 3 1/2 and with the bent links in the front it has way more clearance from the tires to the front of the skid. I think i am going to lower it more though. I would like to try it at 3 1/4 as i am starting to think that so much ground clearance is not needed. I have noticed with that much gc i still have to blip it to clear brakeovers so i might as well run it lower for better side hilling and practice the blip.

I will get pics with the batt. tonight when i get home from work. The batt. is a tight fit!

Pics with the batt They barely fit and i had to shave a little off the front of the skid to even get them n there.

Decided to get a little crazy on the axles a couple weeks ago. I Krakker'd the cases and ground off all of the corners, edges, and extra AL that i could. I also drilled the gears, i lost 0.7 oz. What a pain in the ASS. I will buy them if i want another set. All in all i lost quite a bit of weight and i am down to 5 lb 6.5 oz RTR w/ battery.

I also redrilled the rear shock mounts to get a little lower belly height. I think i am going to do it to the front also.

And the shock mount

I decided to stop being lazy the other day and clock the extra set of cast axles tubes i had. I was not looking forward to making a bracket to mount the servo "ripper777" style. It worked out really well though. It digs so much better now. The two thing i need to do now are rotate the axle back a little farther (the motor is higher than the rear one now) and figure out a better tie rod. I just stuck this one on so i can drive it. The cast tubes are 3.5 oz heavier after all of the grinding i did for the steering and the extra weight is very noticeable. I am not sure if i like it or no.

I really liked the extra caster, it greatly improves the turning AND digging ability.

X2 on what Krakker said. Since I heard positive caster helps I've been a real caster junkie Too bad that with bullys' tubes the linkmounts (lower ofc) hang pretty low. Clocking the C's only is better.. I have to find some 6mm alum scrap pieces to make new ones.

Would flipping the link/shock mount help with this at all?

Yeah, that's what immediatly (goddamn hard word to spell! btw) came to my mind but remember that will rise your rig a bit and at this moment I really can't limit my shocks any more if I want to maintain the flex. I also started a 6" rover project so maybe I have to buy quite shorter shocks than the basic 4-inchers.. And sorry stubs for hijacking your thread, I hope this isn't too OT .

I don't have link mounts with the top holes still on them. I think i am going to drill a new hole a little higher up on the mount and cut the bottom off. I just went and got Jato rod ends so i can lengthen my lower links. I will take a pic from the front, the hole rod end is below the axle tube

Stoked on the new wheels And back to the Sadonas for a while. I am happy i went with the 600's because they are the same width as the LCC wheels i was running.

A guy i comp with a lot kept telling me i needed to smooth out the bottom of my rig, so.................its not pretty but i will see if it works.
