Default Bully Havoc

After I got into the RC world, with a RedCat early this year, I thought it was time for me to try and do my first build.

I bought myself a, 2º hand, set of cast bully's.
After disasembling them I noticed that some parts needed to be replaced.

After some research there were 2 reasons why I went for the bully's.
-They seam to be bomb prof
-They will need a lot of work to work well

For the chassis, I went with a JP Customs Havoc.
I was told that it is a bit dificuld to set-up but I wanted something diferent.
"Everybody" has a beetlejuice or a T1e....

The electronics are:
ESC: Tekin FXR Pro
DIG: PunkRC Dig
BEC: CC Bec
Radio: Spektrum DX3R
Servo: Hitec 7950
Motores: Ansmann 50T
Baterias: 3S

The only new parts on the electronis will be the motors and the servo.
Everything else is second hand, and only tested on the bench without the motors...
I hope everything works But at least all the leds light up! (I like prety lights )

The stard of the build...

And this is how it stands at the moment:

Since this is my first build I went with delrin links. Like this I'm sure they are the same lenght
The upper rear links would be better on the outside of the chassi but I get interference with the lower links...
I will run it as it is and, probably, change the links in the future

More to come

How you gonna build it? rear torsion or four shocks? And yes it´s a bit time consuming to set it up,but once it´s done your´e happy, this chassis is awesome. I´ll follow your thread

I'm happy to anounce that I finished the rig!
I mean... It works but these kind of things are never finished...

I will be using the torsion on the front. I didn't cut the lower part of the chassis so I can change it to the rear if I want to try it out (but I don't think I will....)

First off I didn't like the lower front links, so I made new ones.

After that I started the puzzle with the electronics...

To make it look better I will have to redo some wires but since I don't have much experience with that I will leave it as it is for now.

The first tests:

And, once agains, the redcat got mugged...

Yestaday it stoped raining so I managed to instal the Hitec 7950 and take it for a shake down.

I ran it without the body to see How everything was going

Over all I'm very happy with it!
There's some stuff I'll nead to upgrade, like the wheels, and I have to clock the front tubes. I'm also learning how to use the dig properlly since I dind't have a dig on the redcat...

Speaking of which...

You're next!!!!

(My wife wants a pink crawler... )

Nice build you may want to consider moving you body mounting posts to the top. They get stuck a lot when they are on the sides

Agree on the Redcat stuff. good way to get addicted to the hobby. done minor mods on mine. Short wheelbase is going to be my next mod. 1/10 ish length on a 1/8 scale machine should be interesting.

Very true....
But I just wanted to take it for a test drive so bad that i went with the easy option.
Another thing to look at in the future (or maybe go body-less...)

I know, and a very good one is on this board
That's why I added the " "

But nowadays this chassis is not the most common of choice. But i'm very happy with it, even if it scares me everytime I see it twist!

I only manage to take outside yesterday but I have no pictures...
It has been raining over here

I've never really paid close attention to how much the torsion part of that chassis moves, that's crazy it would scare the hell out of me. Nice build so

Santa was generous for the bully.
He brought a used Lightweight axle for the rear, a set of 4 used (and abused...) lowboyz, and a tekin hotlink to setup the ESC.

The rear tubes are being machined ;)

Poser shot

Recently I turned the front tubes to change the caster:

I will have to check with a proper angle finder (that I dind't have at the time), to give you an exact number but I turned about 20-23º...

Servo mount:

I still have to do a new stearing. This was just temporary so i could test it out.

How much weight did you get from the front tubes?

Hi micro

I really don't know how much I weight I lost on the front...
Losing on the front was not a major priority, it was more of a clearence issue ;)

Time for an update!

This:

+

=

It may not take a lot of weight but sure is fun!

Final weight

69, a very good number if you ask me!

Waiting for the tubes...

Back together:

The steering is now like this:

I'm happy with the way the steering is working now.
Maybe I will try to improve a bit more but it is good

One of the last pictures with the body:

Now I'm working on the body-less:

It may not be the best looking rig there is but if it has the minimal size for competition is good for me

Here's a video from this weekend
