Have just noticed this thread and its great to see a Bully still in action.

Great work with your rig xkill, i will have to do the servo mod you did.

Interesting.

I have my current knuckle weights with only one screw holding them in place (D-Lux weight holder), and they never spun.
For this I will have 2 screws holding the weight to the knuckle so I hope they don't spin...

I'm interested in seeing how it will behave without the inner foam.
Ideally it would be G10 of CF but for testing purpose I'll stick with 2mm Lexan (plus, it was for free).
I also have made some 3D printed parts do hold the weight.

Should looks something like this:

Thanks,

What is the mod you talk about?
I also drilled another hole on the knuckle to mount the rod from the servo to the knuckle.
This made it shorter, therefore losing strength, but stalling the servo is still a very rare event and this way I use all of the steering.

I had two set screws in mine and they still spun with a hard hit.

Hi xkill...its the servo mod where you remounted it behind the axle.

I was going to do it, but going to sell my bully to make way for a pro rig, so will be leaving as is.

Ahh, ok!
I bought my original axles second hand (the only thing left of those are the gears and even those are no longer original...), and it already came with that mod.
Never had my steering in another position.

The bully v1 require a lot of work to make them competitive.
I think I have managed that but it was a long and hard road.

So I finally got home and got all the parts for my wheels test fitted.
I did a new thread for them but I will also post here.
The different 2.2 Comp Wheel

Love the smell of 3D printed parts in the morning!!

In the Bully v1 knuckle.

The wheels mounted up.

Only require 4 small cuts on the tire beads, the wheels are beadlock and the tires can be remounted on normal wheels.

More weight and down low!

All mounted up!

Still need to put them apart and add some foams on the side (didn't have them with me today), and test.
It will be different then the double deuce, for sure, but we'll see...

WOW! that is the coolest wheel I have seen. I love the knuckle weights even more! That is thinking outside of the box.

Tanks!
It's more like thinking inside the wheel ;)
I think the big question is if the tire is now too stiff...
I already got some foam to add on the sides of the lexan and then I can test it.
And let's see if the lexan parts actually hold together until I have some conclusions on the concept.

It was time for the test drive!
Overall it worked. I didn't feel the car jumpy or anything like that.

The only problem was that I broke one wheel.
To be honest it was not so much a design flaw but user and material flaw.
While mounting the wheels I tightened one of the tabs on the lexan part too fast and it broke. Therefore, on that wheel face, I only had 3 screws fully tight to hold the beadlock. Even with some washers It didn't hold for too long.

Starting to come loose...

And, during a dig....

... it broke the 3 other lexan tabs.

I really think that the test went well.

I only have one video of the first course of the day.

I was driving BAD and I don't like the Rovers on 1'' wheels. They become too fat and low.
Next step is making these part (with some changes) out of 1.5mm G10 and mount with Voodoo's.

After the breakage it was time to mount my "normal" setup (narrow voodoo's with knuckle weights).

Doing the same course with the 2 setups really showed me how good the voodoo's are, especially on this rock.
They are sooooo smooth going up. You can just hold slow rpm and the tire will bite without any jumping.

Here's a video of another course.

I'll post some more pictures later on. This spot is very very nice!

The Bully went to Eurocrawl!
What a fantastic weekend it was!!

After a nice road trip (about 6h for me and more for the other Portuguese guys), we arrived late Friday to Almuñecar.

We went to check the rocks and try the rigs!!

once the rig was on the rocks I noticed that my rig was acting up!
The rear ESC was not going full throttle and it was not looking good!!
Time to finish the test run and go to the hotel...

I noticed that the radio gymbal was damaged during the trip.
Radio was superglued and everything was looking better.

A picture for celebration was taken!

Portuguese crew!!

Drivers meeting

First course of the comp!
We (group 3) started on course 3 wish was the hardest of them all!!
Since nobody wanted to start I said "What the hell! I'll go first!"

Not so confident on the electronics...

Not comping regularly meant I screw it and went for a bonus... Did the bonus but DNF with time. This meant bonus would not count (lesson learned for future courses). Score was +30.
We, the Portuguese, were not used to the 5 min courses, it was something we had to get used to and very fast!!

Course 4 was my best course with a -10 and it could be even better if I hadn't made some very silly mistakes...

Course 5 was also good with a -9.
I was stressing about the time and I straddle the last 2 gates... Maybe I could get away with only a reverse on gate 10 but I started to stress out about the time and went for it...

Course 6 went well, except for gate 2 (gate+repo), but also messed up a bonus gate...

Course 1 was also good with a -8 but again some silly mistakes

Course 2, and last, was looking good on the beginning but messed up gate 7 with a silly mistake and didn't go for bonus 2 when I had time and it was fairly easy (but didn't look like it).

All in all, 15 place out of 31 drivers!
I am really happy with this since I don't comp (this was only my 4th comp ever!) and the bully v1 is not the most competitive cars of them all!
But I'm stubborn and I think I made my car a competitive car!
If only the driver was up to it...

Had a blast of a weekend!!
Meet great, open minded and crazy people!
Saw some world class crawling and didn't do so bad myself!

Lets just hope I manage to repeat the experience next year!!

Bonus pics:

It was my pleasure to be a part of Eurocrawl and to meet great people!
At least the sense of humor was good and we are a loud bunch!
Nice contrast with the Nordic people!

I'm also really happy with 15th place!
I had a couple of really stupid mistakes that cost me 20 points... But that's life!

The Bully is now running on some Egressor shocks by RCBros with 3D printed spring cups designed by me.

These really are some smoooth shocks!!!

Next will probably come some 3mm Ti upper links....

Nice rig looks awesome! I guess great minds think alike lol.
I didn't see your thread until now be the concept is very simlar.
Yours look like it's working well.
I did see the way you cut the lip/bead on your tires.
Did they rip at all?

I only had this small test before it the parts broke.
Now I have some parts made out of G10 so I believe they will not brake.
But I will have to test them!

The tires themselves had no problem and nothing ripped.
They are good to go on any wheel!

You have others that tested something similar.
You can find here TotoRax build (great read by the way!).

I was feeling some slop on the servo.
After some research I was thinking about a shot bearing or, most probably, a broken case.

It's a broken case...

Need to buy some replacement case...

That's the same place where I always break my 7950s, too bad there's no room for reinforcing that part.
