Default V4 axle fun!

So I keep taking the v4 axles out of my rigs and replacing them with v6's. I have been saving them since I am a pack rat. I think I found something to do with them.

Wow that sure is interesting. But if you ever were to use it you would need a hectic knuckle setup. Looks cool for sure though.

That's kind of like a "Double Cardan" on a 1:1 driveshaft.

That's the idea. Hopefully I'll get it to work as smooth. Also I have some ideas for the clocking. The first knuckle is going to be clocked forward about 10 degrees. The outside the same toward the back. I think this will give the effect of tilting the wheel while not changing the elevation of the tire. On most rigs I noticed that the axle will be up hill toward the wheel turned closest to the link. I am trying to get the wheel to lean over to clear the shock and link while having a stupid amount of steering and not tilting the axle.

eggresor has made those for his XR-10 and the steering is insane and smooth.

I saw that and though I have to try it. The use of 4 king pins is going to be the difference. It should cancel the lifting and dropping effect of caster from clocking.

Interesting. I am excited to see what you come up with. Sounds cool!

It will be fun to see how you deal with so much material past the kingpin (scrub).

I am not sure I understand your statement above. I will wait for more progress to see what you come up with.

Are you trying to cancel the axle tilt? If so, why do you want to do that?

It seems when I am driving the courses are always set up to turn up a side hill. The thing that bothers me is the axle tilts down hill more than the ascent when turning into it.

Having NON 8* turning up on a side hill is a big advantage. That axle drops but it pushes the weight and makes the crawler more stable.

Try turning downhill. Thats where the NON 8* suffers and the 8* shines.

I have not run anything with 8* yet. I just have a pile of heavy bully tubes and v4 axles with no use for them other than killing time experimenting. Its what I do for fun.

Sounds like we need to go the middle and have 4*. Best of both worlds
