Got my links and bent them up. Just barely enough room to full steer. Just lightly rubs. Used the absolute longest lower lings I could without putting them on the same bolt. The weather is starting to clear up. I am getting excited for a little test and tune. I am going to use some scx shocks with jeepin doug spring cups. I got them filled up with 45wt oil and am waiting for the mail man. I am going to start with losi mini t rear silver springs. After getting the chassis on there I can't decide if I want to put the battery behind the motor or on the axle.

Made some upper links from .156" CF tube.
Put my scx shocks on with external limiters.

I have been using this style chassis for about two years and can't bring my self to sway away from it.

Straightened out the battery mount and distorted it to my liking. Couldn't bring myself to trust the CF links. I replaced them with some more 3\16 Vanquish. Added a skid plate too.

Would I be wrong in thinking that when the front end squats down that the leading edge of that skid plate would just about drag on the ground? I'm not trying to knock your choice of chassis...but I'm trying to understand why you'd need all of the extra holes...extra material, and that particular design for a skid?

I'm sure you've got benefits that you see...just curious what they are...

It wouldn't be mine if it was from the usual cookie cutter.
The skid is lexan and conforms to what ever shape it needs to meet.
I like to experiment with all the aspects of link geometry.
Not just raise this lower that.
You can keep trying to knock it.
I wont like it any less. (fun with your typo)
Extra holes is less material.
I know you run different sorts of chassis.
That DD is an oddity of its own.
Yet it works real good.

question for u regarding links…do most people bend their own Ti links…or can u get some sort of kit that are machined pre-bent for a cleaner look?

btw…how did u bend those Ti Links…was it hard?

No worries...good catch on that typo...got it fixed now! I guess what I was saying about the skid was more that it looks like when you front dig and the rig squats that the leading edge of the skid will be hanging down...to catch on things. I understand it's lexan and that it will bend and such, but seems like you could come up with some sort of way to keep it tucked up...maybe a light duty spring or something to keep it tucked up out of the way.

Make sense? Maybe if you had a video of it running on flat ground we could see how it all works togher...

You're right...I do like different setups than most...and that's why yours caught my interest. I just wanted to know more about why you chose it. I initially picked up the DD thinking I'd just mess around with it and continue driving my Berg, but I quickly realized that wasn't going to happen Thanks for the compliments too...I appreciate it!!!

IvVaum most people buy ones that are prebent. I used a vise and my hand putting one next to the other getting one very close to the other. It is difficult but doable.

Ryan when the front suspension cycles it only drops the skid down to the level of the bottom of the motor. I usually set my rigs to cycle up and down very little while getting about one wheel of articulation. The skid is bent up a little at the front creating its own spring action. Honestly I have no idea what exactly this rig is going to do until I run it. To me it looks like it work just like everything else I have set up. The only difference is that it will cycle up and down considerably more than my last rig.

CC Bec set at 8.5 V
Lots of zip ties.

Played with it in the house a bit.
It's raining outside and supposed to be followed up with snow.

I really am fond of the 50's auto styling. After some test and tune I'll make some panels.

The snow finally melted off today. I run four packs through it. I don't think much is going to get changed. It did everything asked of it and more. Even at 41F degrees. I really noticed the lowered CG over the B1 axles. The clearance under the pumpkin reminds me of a Losi. I am going to give my VooDoo's a try on it.
