Trying a new material it is called Turcite X. It is very slippery. Drilled the inside out to 6.5mm. Now let the head scratching begin on the bolt flange patterns. I am going to try to measure for Cartesian coordinates using the center as (0,0). If it turns out to be a pain then bring out the transfer punches. |

The bolt holes for the stock links are too close together for the stock mounts. Also drilling the holes for bolts creates a week spot that plagued the b1 delrin axles. I am thinking of making my own but leaning toward the Dlux.

Left side tube is done. The coordinates for the holes are as follows. (9.5,0), (0,0), (-9.04,2.91), (-8.41,2.91)mm. Thought I would post these up for the guys that like to make their own. Spent alot of time working through cosine law equations to find the coordinates.

You had me at "cosine law equations". Turcite has some very appealing key properties. Who wouldn't want a self-lubricating, no stick-skip, heat, wear, and chemical resistant material. |

Got the holes for the other side worked out. Trig junkies check this out (Law of Sines and Law of Cosines calculator). Much easier. (-9.47, 0), (0,0), (6.89,6.4, (8.92,-3.4mm |

I think I also got the plunge milled part too. 1mm deep 23mm Dia. (-3.22, 16.0 I'll have to make a test run on this one to make sure it works. On the other I drilled the locations on a piece of plexiglass to make sure it fit. This also allowed me to scribe the outline of the left side original tube for a pattern to get the flats cut just right. The outline of the right side is so odd this is the only way I'll get it to fit. Those were supposed to be right side commas not cool smilies. Not sure how that happens. |

The coordinates worked. It was a little tougher than the other side to make. Here is a pic of the original, new, and jig.

Do you think the 2.5mm screws are going to be strong enough to hold the tubes in place? Or will you be using bigger screws?

I am going to try the 2.5 mm bolts first. If they break off or pull out I'll have to see if there is room to drill and tap for 3mm. I think with some washers to spread out the stress these will work out fine.

Thanks Karl. I am trying get this together and have it bullet proof by worlds. Just have to make the hubs. Then I'll torture it to see what breaks. Scared to try your wringing method! I am going to give it a good beating on the rocks though.
