There's a ton of guys on here that will help you out if you have questions. The stock electronics are garbage anyway on the RTR, you would be better off going with the kit.

Not....... Only the servo is garbage. The rest works well and for the hundred bucks, can't really go wrong,2 motors and the dig are good stuff, tx/rx ok, but is 4channel

With the RTR which I just got, you will need a total disassembly to tighten and seal ALL screws.... Really !

first go around i understand wanting one rtr i think its alot easier to tear down and rebuild than to just build especially when just starting out.after i bought a used rtr mantis and got comfortable repairing i then stepped into building and i think i enjoyed it much more that way

He is spot on with this, I had a couple on the axle housing fall out in my basement within 2 days of crawling over my children's toys haha I then had to go searching on my hands and knees before wifey would find them because we have a 10mo old 'choking hazard'. Anyways had to dismantle and rescrew again with loctite. They put it on some screws but not all of them and they loosen fast. I'm new to this though and still enjoyed the rtr version because when you take it apart and put it back together you learn even more!

I wish I were confident enough to buy a kit because Im the type that like to put the best parts in everything I own. im leaning towards the RTR because Im a good parts changer but if I just buy something that is 4 wheels and a chassis I would have no idea how to wire something in or even what to buy. I think building something is as fun as using the finished product , my problem is Im anxious to start using it . I tend to rush things when I get into something because Im anxious to see how it works , Im better off buying something that is ready to go and upgrading.

One note, the manual is the exact same between them. Good pictures and shows things correctly.
I read CBoggs entire post numerous times, bought the rtr and am happy. Yes all the rig was apart 10 hours later (I ran a pack before to test) and then I saw the wiring.... Wow what a HUGE mess, even though it was tie wrapped ...... I have switched out the esc for a HH BR mini, and the bec to a castle, and the servo to a Promodeler 420. In final adjustments now, need to tie wrap all leads

Too each his own and whichever way makes you enjoy it then that's the best way. Just to let you know you'll probably have a kit built long before the rtr comes back in stock which means your anxiety won't be building up for sooooo long! But you can always work and play with other projects until then right...
