Default Holmes BR Mini Dual Waterproof or Not?

Hey guys, so I’m getting ready to order the Holmes BR Mini Dual ESC’s for my Bully II, should I get the waterproof or not? Any disadvantages to either? What do most guys in the comp crawler scene order for their comp crawlers when they run these things? Thanks!

I'm sure the folks here will chime in with experience and what might work best, but I'd call Holmes and see what they have to say!

Well Holmes isn’t doing phone calls now because of Coronavirus I used their online message form and asked their advice about this yesterday but never heard back, and now this morning the waterproofed ones are sold out. I asked Samu Zarizi about this yesterday too and this morning got the message to get the waterproof one. There is no way to pre-order Holmes stuff that I can see .. so I’m pretty frustrated now.

Some don’t like the waterproofed ones because of the extra heat generated.
If you run in the wet you can also put the conformal coating on it yourself.
I don’t run the waterproof versions myself, and have driven in rain many times.
I haven’t ran into a problem yet... knock on wood (my head)

Hey thanks for chiming in house Ok yeah I knew there was some possible issues waterproofed or not from back in the day when I was doing scalers, I think I bought a non-water proofed BRXL (which I never used) to avoid heat issues. I live in So.Cal. and will be running the rocks in the desert where there is no water or rain anywhere except our canteens, and where the ambient heat pretty high in the spring and fall (90 to 100f (summers are un-doable heat), so it sounds like I’m actually probably better off with the un-waterproofed BR Mini Dual right? What do you run for motors? I was going to get the Holmes Team Puller 500 XX 13T motors .. but those are out of stock .. and I’m open to other recommendations like Team Brood’s, etc. Thanks again!

I think you will be better off then, yes.
I like the HH Puller series, I have both 500’s and 400’s.
I know a lot of people swear by the Brood Stubbys but I have
only run his 540 motors years ago so don’t have any input.

Ok cool thanks .. just ordered the ESC, will wait for Team Puller 500’s. What do you run for shocks? A few years ago when I got this I was planning on Dravtech comp shocks .. but they’re out of business now, any suggestions? Thanks again
