Locked Up's RC4WD Trail Finder 2 Build Thread I got the box tonight but won't be able to get into it until Saturday. http://www.lockeduprc.net/tech/trailfinder2/1.jpg I'm really excited and hope to fill it with some serious goodies. Stay tuned! |
Re: Locked Up's RC4WD Trail Finder 2 Build Thread And so it begins... All the thumbs: Thumbnails Opening the box the first thing I notice is that I like the layout of the parts. The instructions are pretty simple and easy enough to follow and I'm happy to report there were no surprises. http://www.lockeduprc.net/tech/trail...a/DSCN9941.jpg http://www.lockeduprc.net/tech/trail...a/DSCN9943.jpg I took the tranny and transfer case out and I like em! The transfer case looks really sweet and operation of both units is very smooth. Following the instructions is, as I said earlier, really simple. I took pictures after each set of steps but honestly, there isn't much reason for me to repost them all in this thread, so I'll just post a few... http://www.lockeduprc.net/tech/trail...a/DSCN9946.jpg One thing I did differently from the instructions is that I assembled both sides together. The instructions have you attach all the cross members and such to one side first, then go back and add the other rail. I didn't and it was probably more difficult for me because of it. http://www.lockeduprc.com/tech/trail...a/DSCN9950.jpg As I said the t-case & trans are really nice... http://www.lockeduprc.net/tech/trail...a/DSCN9952.jpg http://www.lockeduprc.net/tech/trail...a/DSCN9955.jpg Pretty much fully assembled other than electronics: http://www.lockeduprc.net/tech/trail...a/DSCN9960.jpg My plans are an FXR, 35 or 45t motor, servo winch, full interior, ccBEC and a 3s 1600 30c lipo. Servos are Towerdpro MG946rs and running at 7v should put out over 210 in/oz. http://www.lockeduprc.net/tech/trail...a/DSCN9964.jpg One thing I will make a big deal of is the tires. They feel AWESOME and VERY sticky. http://www.lockeduprc.net/tech/trail...a/DSCN9967.jpg And I am impressed that there is no shortage of spare parts. http://www.lockeduprc.net/tech/trail...a/DSCN9969.jpg I dropped the body on just for kicks and I think it's gonna look bad arse! http://www.lockeduprc.net/tech/trail...a/DSCN9971.jpg I'm going to finish up the electronics in the morning then pick up some acrylic paint. Our weather has been horrible though so I may have to hold off on paint for a little while. Either way, I'll try to get some action shots up as soon as I can. Overall, I'm impressed with the fit and finish of everything. Like I said, no surprises and when you are building a kit that is awesome! Thanks RC4WD! |
Re: Locked Up's RC4WD Trail Finder 2 Build Thread any plans on color?? |
Re: Locked Up's RC4WD Trail Finder 2 Build Thread I'm thinking ... yellow! :lmao: I tend to have a "sunburst" addiction though .... we'll see what happens... http://www.noeither.com/rc/pictures/...0/DSCN4588.jpg http://www.noeither.com/rc/pictures/...0/DSCN9521.JPG http://www.noeither.com/rc/pictures/...0/DSCN8380.JPG |

Re: Locked Up's RC4WD Trail Finder 2 Build Thread I've been fighting a wicked cold and have missed 2 days of work and was in bed most of the weekend. Awesome.:x So today I felt a little better and I finally got the body parts assembled & got the initial primer coat down on the TF2. I'm going to have to go back over the back of the cab to fill a few small gaps but no big deal. Hopefully I can get it painted for Saturday! http://www.noeither.com/rc/tech/tomrc4wd/h/IMG_1416.jpg http://www.noeither.com/rc/tech/tomrc4wd/h/IMG_1417.jpg |

On a side note, will there be any heads up when the kits are on thier way? Also, will there be a lighting kit available? These would look sweet bombing around at night all lit up! |
