Lift kit...**updated with pics** I know rc4wd has a body lift for the TF2, anyone interested in a suspension lift? maybe some lift blocks with u-bolt kit. I think it would add a very nice scale appearance. I know most of us run bigger tires and need a little more clearance, I myself don't like to cut the body. Does this seem like a good idea or a waste of time? |
Re: Lift kit. Sounds like a very good idea, these are supposed to be scale trucks so why not have lift springs, blocks, shackles and ect? Every year this hobby gets more and more scale. |
Re: Lift kit. Yea I agree, that would be a great idea. I dont want to cut the body or have it look off because of a body lift. Any vendors lookin to do this.? |

Some simple spacers would that would go under the shackles would be the best way to do it and it would keep it scale "thumbsup" http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/h...d/Flexorz1.jpg |
Re: Lift kit. you can use the bruiser shackles ,they are longer, will lift a little bit. |
Re: Lift kit. I made some shackles from scrap Titanium. 1/4" longer than stock so they give about 1/8" of lift and improve the pinion angle. http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/...4_152350-1.jpg The verniers are set at the stock length (eye to eye) http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/...523_185733.jpg http://i1150.photobucket.com/albums/...rovr/a11-2.jpg |
Re: Lift kit. Does this affect steering at all bump steer? |
Re: Lift kit. Thanks to Blue Monkey RC for reading this thread and providing these 5mm lift blocks. They look good, perfect fit and finish. Gave me the extra clearance I needed for running the bigger 1.55 rock stompers...overall excellent product and service."thumbsup" http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...1/DSC03962.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...1/DSC03986.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...1/DSC03988.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...1/DSC03989.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...1/DSC03990.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...1/DSC04032.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...1/DSC04034.jpg |

Re: Lift kit. Just placed an order for the lift blocks... I like the look... John |
I used alum tubing. This is much nicer. Too bad there aren't taller shimmed versions! |

Re: Lift kit. Each lift poses new and specific issues both in the scale world and in the 1:1 world. All have pretty easy fixes. The issue with a shackle lift like I did, is that it can cause pinion angle issues and possible driveshaft angle issues. In the case of a stock TF 2 the shaclkle lift alleviates those last two issues, but had I stayed with the Bruiser Style spring mounting (Shackle at the rear of the spring on the front axle) it would have made both issues worse (this is why I went back to shackle in front. Lift blocks can cause the mount to act as a bigger lever and increase leaf spring wrap...but alas, BM has the perfect solution to that as well with their ladder bar :) |
