Default ***Overdrive Underdrive Project ***

Yes you read write Overdrive Underdrive Mod.

Pictures its work in progress but a Quick Test has proved positive that it works so I will continue with this Build.

Basically I have moved the Trans over to the other side (I need to make another mount for the other side.
The Transfer Case has had the shaft flipped round inside.
The Rear Prop angle is now better and the front comes down the correct side to the pumpkin.
By doing this the Transfer Case is now higher and the Steering drag link is on the correct side.
A quick Test Run gave a much better turning circle.
The Single output on the Transfer Case spins round faster than the others.
Whether it will affect gearing or not i'm not sure so I might need to look at the spur and pinion arrangement later on.

More Soon.

I've never used overdrive/underdrive before so I'm just asking. Won't they be working against one another?

Nope the Front Axle turns faster than the rear.
So when you steer you get a better/tighter Turning circle.

Axial make specific gears for this purpose.
The Rc4wd Yota axles are limited to a single setting.

Still Wrenching Video Soon as its runable.

The other advantages are that the front end tends to stay planted better during breakover climbs, rather than backflipping or wheelying. It also helps with steep descents, effectively like riding the rear brakes. Turning radius should be much improved.

If this mod works out, we'll have to name it after you .

More Pics been mucking around with this today.
I got the motor sitting lower.

The Drivers Side Engine mount is the passenger one flipped over and a couple of small spacers added.

The Passenger Side is a Leaf Link bent 90 degrees and mounted to one of the holes on the engine mount.

This pic shows that a small amount had to be filed out to clear the chassis rail. You can also see that I left out one of the silver barrel spacers it wouldn't quite clear the shock hoop

The Electonics tray plate was raised off the rails and the transfer case mounted to it.

I'm working the Shift Servo Out now so once that's done i'll shoot some video.

Love it! I was just thinking that the TC should be setup differently to match real yota TCs.

The jumping in the video while turning, is that the effect you were using for the video or does the rig jump when turning?

I was getting a little glitch from the electrics because they were just thrown on.

Nice work on re-arranging the driveline, that's not as straight forward as it seems.

Given that the tcase is 1.47:1 is the difference in ratios too much?

1.47:1 = the front being 0.47 x's faster? If so, it should work out. The difference between the combo of OD & UD in an AX-10 is 0.73.

So I continue.

Leafs up front weren't cutting the Mustard so they've gone now.

I had the proper Yota Axle 4 link mount but no centre mounts as I used them on the Blackwell Yota.

So I used the Leaf Mounts that should go on the rear.
They fit in the Original Holes which is a result!!

3 Links on the Front because it wouldn't clear the prop on the other side.

Front Panhard running Parallel to the steering Drag link. Its everso slightly longer but I get almost zero Bump Steer.

The Shift Servo is now mounted at the front as there's room next to the Transmission

I also got some new wheels for it today thanks to 'redneck21'

I have some New Props and some of those New Gmade Shocks on there way so I'll update this some more once those parts arrive.
In the meantime I have the electronics to mount.
More Soon

Interesting mod....seems to work good so far.
After eyeing the first picture you posted...wondered how long the front leafs were going to last....
