Toyota Truck for Trucking - Now a N00b built Trailfinder!

I'm making a truck.

It has these parts in it.

http://imageshack.us/a/img255/2431/img4977t.jpg

Helical gears, CVD's, 3 link front and 4 link rear because I'm fancy.

Simple and proven drivetrain.

I plan on comping with it this August. I still need some bits. It's a super-mild build, so don't expect ground-breaking, earth-shattering, holy-crap moments which you can apply to your own projects. That is, unless you've never heard of bobbing. Then prepare for your mind to be exploded.

Looks like a sweet start.

Looking forward to your build! What shocks are you going to run with it linked?

You'll be waiting some time then.

Oops. Sorry!

I decided to Frank the bed rather than Robert it.

I'm having a hard time deciding on tires - they really end up changing the look quite dramatically.

Put some n00b fenders in front. I'll probably end up fashioning the bed in such a way that I don't have to cut the hood off to get at everything. We'll see. Still in the tinkering phase.

Tricked you, I ended up Roberting the bed.

Roberta'ed.

I did a terrible job of making a straight cut, and I cut it in the wrong place. So I've got some fixing to do. NICE GOING, IDIOT! Also trimmed the front fenders.

Here's where the bed topper was always going to go:

Re: Toyota Truck for Trucking

So today I tried experimenting with brazing. I'm pretty sucky at it for my first time.

http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/3554/img5558bb.jpg

I wanted a simple, two-tube bumper and this is what I came up with. Bleh. Faux winch will maybe lead to a servo winch under the hood. I don't know yet. Brazing is hard - I fully respect the people who do it well.

Bobbed bed is done, and separate from the cab like it should be. Hard mounted to chassis for strength.

Are the first pics 1.5 Boggers with 1.9 walker wheels?

Yep, 1.55 Boggers on 1.9's. Looked good, but I'm not a huge fan of those wheels.

I decided that my homemade bumper looked stupid on the front. Seems to have always been meant for the rear.

Factory seconds rear tailgate.

looking sharp. my old 1:1 yota had a bumper exactly like that, i like it. i removed it though and it weighed so damn much that it raised the rear about 2 inches lol

Thanks!

I continued my experiments in brazing tonight and made this roll bar for the back, where dummies would sit and hold the driver's beer while watching things.

Thanks Chris.

Picked a paint colour. Have some detailing and more painting to do. The End.

So you braze now too eh Matt?! Was styrene mastery not enough?! I like the blue. Reminds me of the JK. (I just got that warm fuzzy feeling inside) Helicopter gears you say... that is fancy. Did Richard get mad when you took his fenders from him? Please, continue not blowing our minds with this "super-mild" build.

5 lug wheels... So not scale.

Just kidding, looks good so far, I'm liking the blue. "thumbsup"

I'm learning the brazz. JK is actually a different shade of blue. It was cheap paint, this is expensive paint. Two helicopters on this build. Richard is always mad. I'll do my best to bore the internet with this typical hilugse.

Facepalm. I didn't even notice. Anybody want to buy a set of 5 never-used wheels?
