Hey kincer, did you make your shooter shackles from bike style chain links?

Thanks for the link. I'll check out my local ace hardware for those parts. Not sure if lowes or home depot will have them, but ace always seems to have cool trinkets like that

your best source is farm supply type stores or lawn mower shops.....it's the same size chain used on most typical go-karts/mini bikes

So, um, yeah this thread is a few years old and I'm gonna revive it with a new Marlin crawler TF2, I've been putting this in my cart and removing it for about three weeks now but today I pulled the trigger and it should be here next week right in time for my birthday, when I got out of R/C four years ago this is one rig I wish I still had and I can't wait til it's new red twin arrives!

Welcome back to the game. Have to say I love the old truck you had, looked great and love the blue. Sounds like you had a great time with old blue. Hope the new marlin does you justice and can't wait to see what you do with it. I love my tf. It takes a different kind of love to enjoy this truck for sure. Wouldn't mind building another one, one day will come. My next build I think will be the scx10ii raw kit.

I really miss old blue, this Marlin really is close to my old one in looks other than the color, I've got work to do though, the suspension on the Marlin is no where near as good as my old one.

I know this is a few months old but what was the suspension and drivetrain setup on your old blue truck? Or do you have a build thread? You said it did really well even against linked trucks so I’m curious what all you had done to it.

I am also curious what you do, or have done, to the marlin as I’m planning to get one within the next month. It will be my first rc crawler so I’m excited to start modding it to be more like my 1980 1:1....

This is the build thread lol, if you look through it towards the beginning and middle you'll find what I did, basically just running the main leaf with ends tapered, 90mm shocks with a medium oil can't remember what weight at the moment, no internal springs and the shooter shackle mod, there is a link up there somewhere for the shooter shackle mod. I'm basically gonna do the same to the Marlin when I get around to it. As far as drivetrain I can't remember, it was a 35t motor and I think a castle esc, hitec 645 servo if I recall, it was a great running rig for all that was in it.

You also want to go through the tips and tricks sticky for the TF2 there is a LOT of good info there as well.
