About to paint my bed flat black, so I need to sand it prior?

It wouldn't be a bad idea to rough it up with some 800 grit or higher sandpaper.

Is it new, clean, dirty? I wash my new bodies with dish soap, warm water, and a sponge. Washing it is always a must but weather or not to sand it also a question of the type of paint your using. If it's the tamiya paint for plastics or hobby paint for plastics don't bother. If it's automotive paint or paint for metals the it will help the paint stick to the body better. But with a flat black you should be good to just was and paint. Just be sure you wash any oils off of it from mold release or finger prints as that can cause fisheyes. And make sure it's completely dry. Moisture will cause runs.

I usually sand my body but with a very fine sand paper helps paint stick better I use rustolium paint though I never sand the beds when I spray a flat black and it always comes out good

Most flat or matte paints are military grade and will stick to almost anything though.

Im'm using a hobby grade hard plastic paint. Its just for the bed linner

So how did your bed paint work out for you? Pics? I'm just about ready to do the same to an F-350 bed.
