IMO if you go brushless you'll be going fast enough to break everything on the truck twice as fast. I'm using savox SW0231MG
Savox SW-0231MG Waterproof High Torque STD Metal Gear Digital Servo on shift and steer and I'm using a WP spektrum rx then a WP BRXL and a torque master 45t and a torque master 35t on my other tf2

Re: waterproof

Is the castle sv3 sidewinder and the Novak ballistic 18.5 brushless set up a good choice for this rig and getting a little wet?

Brushless doesn't mean its any faster. A 1000kv brushless would be slower than a 35t brushed.

You want a sensored system. And IMO preferably nothing Novak.

For the trail finder 2 a Holmes hobby brlx esc, savox or hitech water proof servo, and a 35 turn motor. Done! and its waterproof. Plenty of power and all you have to do is do maintenance on your brushed motor. Uncensored brushless is crap when going slow. If you want fast go get a dirt buggy or wait for that Axial yeti thats coming out. Remember this is a scale truck not a s/c racer. "thumbsup" You will need a servo saver for the transmission servo. search that up it will help you with not burning them up.
