AZ Blue TF2....yet another!! So after oogling RC4WDs TF2 kit for what seems like forever, then seeing the RTR come out, I knew I had to pull the trigger. This is how it arrived, with Revolver shackles metal front bumper and rear tire carrier. The shirt was free with their coupon code (because I spent money like it was going out of style). https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8623/...62234002_c.jpg It came packaged nicely, box..... inside a box.... inside a box... inside a half box. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8584/...9d91f15b_c.jpg Here she was, shiny and new. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7550/...0a3968f4_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7488/...f22a4dcf_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7564/...b6c9753b_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7466/...2d197b6c_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7565/...426390d1_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7462/...5b83ac4f_c.jpg [IMG][/IMG] I quickly started adding things and replacing things. Rear tire carrier went in. I had some RC4WD 1.55 rock stompers and stamped beadlocks from another build, I threw those on too. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7552/...1415d776_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7502/...bc29f17d_c.jpg Revolver shackles in. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7467/...7494e191_c.jpg Bumper on. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7529/...d5c8e3a6_c.jpg I trimmed up the lower corners of the body because I thought they looked weird hangin out in the breeze. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7573/...756538d7_c.jpg Scooped/installed the RC4WD Warn winch and painted portion under the grill black to help it blend better. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7576/...9d46a4a3_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7543/...8db8545c_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7464/...b25a43e6_c.jpg |

Re: AZ Blue TF2....yet another!! What are your thoughts on the waythey did the RTR? Im getting one, and will do some stuff to help it flex alittle more. Not looking for a scx10 flex though. Does it have metal bumpers or plastic. |
Re: AZ Blue TF2....yet another!! Nice transformation from what you bought to what you have now."thumbsup" |
Re: AZ Blue TF2....yet another!! Looks good, rear bumper and roll bar came together very nicely. |

Re: AZ Blue TF2....yet another!! I got to staring at this deal and didn't really like how low the front bumper hung. I found that RC4WD offers different height bumper mounts. I believe the one that comes with the RTR kit is a #3, or the lowest hanging one. I also found I didn't like how flimsy the actual bumper mount is. I figured it would be a good idea to get the metal #2 mount they offer.....but its out of stock. I decided to try and modify my bumper to mount to the frame. This is what the bumper looks like, out of the package, "stock". https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7557/...bcbed7aa_c.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8612/...6b60db0f_c.jpg This is the "stock" bumper mount. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7493/...f83fed32_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7552/...a49bebec_c.jpg I cut the mounts off the bumper and then picked a height I wanted the bumper to be. I tried to make it so the top bar of the bumper would be right under the headlight. I picked a spot on the bumper where the mounts would line up with the frame rails. Then I simply took a grinder and shaped the round mount to fit in the square mount location. This is what it looked like. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8651/...d784793b_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7523/...8f9e10a2_c.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8603/...913fe6a2_c.jpg |
Re: AZ Blue TF2....yet another!! Last night I started to try and workout a way to EXO the front portion of the cab without affecting the ability to remove the body and not have it look stupid. When I made the rear roll bar I used steel nuts welded to it as mount locations. I figured I could try something along those lines. I kinda hate doing it this way and would more than like to simply tie the EXO to the sliders and the front bumper however, the bumper and sliders are hard mounted to the frame and that would make it a bit of a challenge to remove the body for something simple....like changing the battery. I had some 1/8" weldable steel rod laying around, it seemed easy to bend and shape so I used it. With some bends and a few braces it should be pretty stout. I know on 1:1 vehicles the tube would typically be a bit larger but a 1.25" tube(what 1/8" at 1:10 would be) as a simple exo didn't seem too unrealistic. Anyhow, this is what I came up with. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7575/...bd59647c_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7463/...aafe9e5b_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7477/...a50870de_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7513/...2fddd683_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7562/...347af1cd_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7563/...b41fbb03_c.jpg |
Re: AZ Blue TF2....yet another!! I decided to try and add a bit of reinforcement to the tube fender. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7464/...903c9231_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7531/...1fcfece0_c.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8626/...e501751c_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7569/...7ecbffde_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7522/...3b66e052_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7491/...e182ccda_c.jpg |

Re: AZ Blue TF2....yet another!! Had some free time on my hands today, and this happened. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8567/...3cb4ff68_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7505/...bd66272b_c.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8648/...80d346b2_c.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8639/...7bf1a54e_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7583/...9348bf5b_c.jpg The passenger side was the worst cut. I didn't take pictures, but I was able to get it looking better with some body filler and such. Although there aren't any finished pictures of the bad side, it turned out OK in my opinion. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7546/...0fa127c5_c.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8616/...e771aaf6_c.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8658/...9253b831_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7467/...67b86f0d_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7463/...eced4430_c.jpg https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8636/...f17be035_c.jpg |

Re: AZ Blue TF2....yet another!! After fitting the Exo and chopping the bed down, I went to repaint and decided on a different color, now my thread title is invalid...oh well, on to pictures. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7466/...00f39de9_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7568/...486e5308_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7579/...d9e3e81f_c.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7550/...9aa8aa2f_c.jpg |
Re: AZ Blue TF2....yet another!! I think I might try to play with the ride height a bit, add some inner fenders at least for the front and then get at the interior |
Re: AZ Blue TF2....yet another!! subscribed "thumbsup" |
