| Got Chrome?
Prepping my TF2 for paint, this evening I washed all of the yellow parts. This weekend I am going to put down the primer coat and start with the base coat (light gun metal). Going through the picture thread I see that the are a couple of ways to paint up the front grill. Some go all black, so go with chrome around the grill, and a few others go with chrome around the lights as well. I am thinking of just chrome around the grill. What paint are you guys using, and are there any tricks to getting it look good? Thanks! |

A tiny paintbrush is too difficult for me to control, so I used a silver Sharpie paint marker around the edges of my grill. Works very well, but it is not as shiny as chrome. I have a paint pens and markers from silver, to white to flat black for touch ups and small details.

You should google say "1982 toyota Hilux" then opt for images etc. There's like you say multiple options. My current build is a total black grill, but if you want the silver it's very easy. Spray your black first. Using a fine brush use normal model paint and do it as neatly as you can but don't be scared to paint over the edge. Then once dry simply run a scalpel along the edge lightly which will remove any excess silver giving you a very crisp edge. Hope that helps |

Awesome techniques!!! I like both ideas, gotta decide which way I want to go. The chrome will give it a nice new look, but the paint pen gives it some patina for a weathered look. |

I used a product called Bare-Metal Foil on mine. It comes in a sheet, it goes a long way..... Bare-Metal® is Used for Detailing Model Cars, and Aircraft - Bare-Metal Foil Co. |
