Default Big time understeer...

Hey guys, I tried searching for understeer in the trail finder 2 brand specific tech, and came up with nothing, is there another place to look? My tf2 understeers like crazy.. I'm running pitbull growlers and soft foams, so they are very pliable. Yet the truck just plows through and turns like the tires are only at half the turning angle.

It's just the nature of the beast. The knuckles don't have enough caster built into them to fix the "into-the-ground" steering.

The soft tires and foams probably amplify the steering problem.

I'm having a similar issue with my TF2 because of soft tires and memory foams. The truck tends to push forward when I turn and the tires fold over. I'm going to change over to a harder tire and a stiffer foam. I probably should have just kept the stock wheels and tires. They seem to work well enough for what I do anyway.

Have you fitted CVD's yet? They increase the steering dramatically.

You could also go one step further with overdrive at the front/under drive at the back.

As mentioned the tyres won't be helping but mine turns very well on mudslingers and CVD's.

I'm interested in seeing how you do overs and unders in Yota diffs.

Dready on here did it with his TF2, theres a write up on here somewhere.

From memory he fit by reconfiguring the transfer case and transmission.

There you go.

Remove the transfer case from the truck, open it up and flip the input shaft 180. Put it back together, but mount it with the "input" shaft down (which should be pointing forward now). The trans coupler should bolt up (just now its going to an "output"). The rear axle is driven 1:1 by the trans, and the front is now overdriven by 1.47 IIRC.

I recall several people doing this, and a few of those eating gears until they changed back

I have seen that, it's technically not unders and overs, though you get the same outcome.

It's hard to tell the difference between 1.1 gearing/ 1.47 gearing. There is a slight difference, but not enough to perform better.

If you are checking the gear ratio with the input and output, the output side might only be minutes of a degree off.
